I had my 32rh transmission rebuilt a couple of months ago. When I got it back, I noticed ATF leaking out of the NP231 transfer case where the speedometer assembly attaches. I pulled it out and found that they split the o-ring when it was all reassembled. I had a Rugged Ridge o-ring and replaced it, but it's leaking again. Is there a difference in brands? I think the Mopar version is 6035709?

Well, as with anything aftermarket, you never know how it's going to fit.

My guess is that the o-ring is just slightly too small to seal right. I might go to the auto part store and grab a handful of o-rings (usually they have packs of them) and go try them all out to see which one fits the best.

That or just order the correct OE Mopar one.

Maybe someone else has more knowledge on it than I do though.

I can pick one up from the local dealer, I just wasn't sure if they are an actual Mopar part or just repackaged from another manufacturer. If I can spend $3 vs $22 for the exact same o-ring, I would rather go that route. =)

Whenever I buy my speedo gears from Morris4x4, I usually just order the Crown O-ring and I haven't had any problems with the 3 or 4 of them that I've received. I would go with Mopar but the dealer doesn't even sell speedo gears anymore so I figure going there for an o-ring isn't worth it either if the Crown ones I've gotten have worked fine.

Ahhh, I see what you're saying. I wish I knew the answer!
