Spent the day and a lot of the night playing on the beach We usually may two trips a year up here (Spring and Fall). This is the first time we’ve got to come since Spring ‘19 because of the destruction Hurricane Dorian did to the island in September of ‘19 and COVID this past spring. It’s been great to get back here. You can’t help but relax here because there’s not much to do compared to the commercialized beaches. No chain restaurants/hotels or anything like that, just simple life. We’ve become friends with a few of the locals over the years and it’s always great to catch up with them. Not looking forward to the week ending.

I absolutely love it there, Tradewinds in the morning for bait and coffee... we used to spend the 4 days of Thanksgiving drum fishing. Officially there was no camping, so we would take turns standing a post (2 on, 6 off) with a rod in the water in case a warden rode up. Great times

Awesome shots. You’ve got a perfect view to watch the ferry come in there on Silver Lake. I had the pleasure of working on Ocracoke for a few years when I lived in Frisco, NC. We would stand duty down there from memorial day to Labor Day every summer. Good times

We went every Thanksgiving for most of the 90's. Good thing we stopped, we would have been on the national news as KKK members or something... the flags were there for friends to find us. By the end of Thursday there were 7-10 trucks pulled into a semi-circle. A group of Canadians stopped and asked if they could take pictures of the flag, having never seen one in real life. Pretty sure they went home and told their friends about the rednecks with all the big 4x4s and rebel flag. Kinda felt like we were exhibits in a zoo.

Yes, it is a great view. Even in our room, I don't even have to get out of bed to watch them, just open my eyes.

I'm not into fishing or anything, I don't even really like too much seafood, but we enjoy finding a spot and just hanging out. It's so easy to drive a little ways down the beach and not be close to anyone. You feel like you have the whole beach to yourself.

Very true, have you ever made it to Hatteras island just north of Ocracoke? The light house and driving out to Cape point is worth the trip!

Yes, many times, but haven’t been out to cape point yet. Started to a couple times in the past, but it was way to crowded.

Because of the hurricane last October, we moved our vacation up to Avon. They didn’t get hit nearly as hard.
