Oil Pressure Issue

Sometimes when I start my engine the oil pressure gauge will stay at 0 and the Check Engine light will come on. If I turn the Jeep off and then start it back up, the oil pressure gauge needle will move to a normal reading again. Anyone else have this issue? Any ideas on what to check? Thanks.

Check engine light, or check gauges light? If it’s check gauges and your oil level is fine, then more than likely the pressure switch is failing. Spend the money for the MOPAR part, not the cheaper aftermarket ones.

X2 on the oil pressure switch. I had the same issue and my check gauges would turn on and my oil pressure gauge would stay at 0. I went to the local stealership and bought the OEM oil pressure sending unit for $44. Easy replacement and will most likely fix your issue which is pretty common in our TJ's. If it is not the check gauges light and it is the check engine light, you can just use your key to check your codes and then research the code it is throwing. Another thing you can do with your key and the ignition is a gauge test to check if all of your gauges are in proper functioning order. But most likely no need for all of that and it is just a burnt out sending unit.

Another vote for pressure switch. They can get sticky and/or gunky when they get older.
