Hey guys, I just recently replaced my oil pressure sender unit because as I was driving about a week ago the oil pressure gauge decided to spring up to 80 and continue staying there until I was idling at a stop light and then it would go down slightly, so I replaced the unit after reading several forums. Just wondering if this is a good pressure or if the oil pump may be going out too. When running it tends to stay around 45-55. It also idles just below 40 now.

13 psi at idle is normal, unless you have the "dummy" gauge in later model TJs. If the real oil pressure is where it should be, the newer TJ oil pressure gauges read mid-scale.

I changed my sensor & the pump in my 97, and I *never* see those lower pressures anymore. It's never below the low hash, and routinely lives near the upper hash. My 02 behaves similarly (never changed any of those parts, but maybe a PO did).
