Popping noise when rolled back in 4low

A while back I went up pretty steep hill, when I got to top, the other side had been dug out so I engaged the clutch and rolled back down the hill. While rolling I noticed a clicking sound from front. I went up several hills and it did great ready if day, but just wanted to get some opinions on if this is normal or not. Thanks!

Perform a thorough inspection of the front suspension starting with the axle and driveshaft U joints looking for red dust coming from between the U joint caps and the trunion (pivot shaft). The needle bearings inside the caps may be getting dry causing the clicking sound.
