Problems with shifting transfer case

I have a 97 Jeep Wrangler sport and I put a Transfer case cable on and it was working great for a while now when trying to put into 4wd there no tension between gears was wondering if anyone could help I looked under and everything is still connected properly the TF shifter is moving with ease just not going into gear

Post up a couple pictures if you can. Something may have come disconnected. From the way you describe it, your shifter in the cab will go through all 4 positions easily with no resistance, but its not changing anything in the transfer. Lay under there and have someone move the shifter maybe.

The nut on the transfer case? If that is loose you could have everything else right, but the shifter lever could rotate around the shaft.
