Rancho shock issue

Bought a set of new Rancho RS 5000x shocks from a guy that bought them from 4WP. Front RS55255 and rear RS55256. Got the fronts out yesterday to put on the Jeep and the bottom mount holes were too far apart. They should have been XP4 (2 7/16) but are XP7 (2 7/8), clearly someone at Rancho put the wrong ones on (see chart).

I called Rancho and got no help except to take back to where I bought them. (they don't deal with customers)

Went to my local 4WP store here in Nashville and they said I needed the sales receipt.

This clearly a Rancho quality control issue and cannot seem to get them to make it right. Has anyone else run into this. I will just grind out the holes if Rancho will not exchange, but that is not right. Live and learn, but does not make me want to do business with Rancho in the future. D

Use a vise to press out the bar pin and press in a replacement, any shop that sells shocks will have them. Or move the old bar pin over to the new shocks.

By the way those are pretty tall shocks, what size is your suspension lift? And welcome home brother.

I've done it a couple times without tearing up the bushing. Yes it was.

I had the same issue. I swapped the bar pins and put hourglass shaped bushings in mine. Much easier to replace.
p.s. Rancho said the shocks aren't TJ specific.

Can do, push or grind. Just don't think it is right that Rancho made a mistake and will not make it right. They could have even suggested to send the right mount and have me push it out and put right one in. Poor customer service/quality control. Well non existent, really.

Rough Country has great customer service. It's not an even trade-off though.

Just pressed out the old pins, it was a pain. Think I will drill the new ones, Not sure about pressing new out and pressing old in.

Poking around Im seeing that RS55255 is for a 2.5-4" lift and 55256 is 2.10-4.00" lift and the Ranchos run long...

Ya kind of put yourself at risk not buying from a business vs private sale... hope you get it straightened out and back on the road!!!

Oh, I bought a set of new Ranchos and the QC was terrible, paint awful, rubber bushings messed up....maybe Friday or Monday shocks?....returned them and went with the Black Maxx... they look mint

I have those shocks on a 4" lift and about 5" of uptravel. Don't think I'd want them on a 2".

I know it's frustrating but it's not surprising for most companies that don't sell direct to the public. What sucks is the guy that sold them to you could have taken care of it but instead pawned it off on someone else.

That shock is way too long for a 2” lift. I run 4.25” lift and that shock and have 5.5” uptravel and 5.3”down travel. On another rig I run the Rancho 2-3” shocks front and rear, but the rear are too long. I’d probably go with the Rancho advertised 0-2” in the rear and 2-3” in the front for your lift.

Ah. Bummer.

I wouldn't hesitate to just swap the pins out if it was me. But that doesn't solve your length problem unless you want to bump your lift up to 4"+.

Whoops wow yeah those shocks are too long for your 2" lift. Sorry I didn't catch your 2" lift height earlier!!

Time for some ProComp or SuperLift 4" springs to fix the issue...............and create a few more.
I liked my Jeep with a 4" lift and stock tires. I thought it was f......cool;.
