I notice, hear and feel, while turning rear rear tires by hand.
I need to investigate, but need to identify rear-end. From these pics, can you tell a date? I'm assuming Dana 35 non posi, 3.07.
I'm afraid the PO couldn't hear or feel any rotating noises due to the Wrangler 31×10.5 tires, which I am replacing asap.

Yes, that tin tag says 3.07 gears. You should pop the cover and look at whats going on inside if you a capable mech of sorts. If its grinding, whining and making noises its headed south, and driving it more will only damage it further. BTW, it looks like the cover has been off before as I see RTV oozing from the cover edges. That may have been from an oil change or a shop looking inside and the PO deciding not to repair a worn Dana 35 diff.
