I'm 2 years in on my second set of Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ's in about 10 years. Held up great, awesome in mud, snow, sand, and DD in rain.
The 35x 12.50x15 big km2 mud terrains on my Jeep worked well in mud, went out of round after about 15,000 miles. The same tires ,but in 205/60/18 on my Silverado were worthless. The left rear exploded, trashing the bed. Two days later, the other rear tire had belt separation to the point where it looked like half a watermelon bubbled out of the tread. That was two years ago. Last week, it was the right front. I rotate my tires and always maintain pressure. I wouldn't run these again if they were free.

I just put on some 285/75-16 (33X11) Falken MT01s. Seemed to balance ok for an MT. Price was great at ~$220/tire. Have only put 120mi on the street with them so far but they are a lot quieter than I imagined. Anxious to get them off road to see how they perform and ultimately how they wear and sound long term.

I had some km2 on my xj and loved them (33-10.50-15)
Have you thought of using those balancing beads I've heard they are good but have no personal experience.

I have a friend running 35" sst's on his xj. They run better than anything else on that beast. Pretty quiet and smooth down the highway.
Every one I have talked to loves these STT's, I don't know if I got a bad set or what. One tire balanced with almost no weight. The other 4 took a ton.
Seems like maybe you did. I absolutely loved my STTs when I had them on my XJ. I would still have them on my TJ if it hadn't been for the fact that I wanted an AT tire this time around.
I wasn't a big fan of my STT's. They were tough as nails, but didn't balance well, and wore quickly. I barely go 28K miles out of them and they were noisy as hell after some wear. First gen, so maybe the Pro's are better?
Really depends on your terrain and how much true offroading you're doing.
Here on the east coast, Duratracs are pretty useless. They don't clean this red clay for squat. They're similar to BFG AT's in that respect.
MTR's are great in this environment, and really puncture resistant but cup like a SUM-beach. Never seen a rig make it to wear bars with MTR's
Mickey MTZ's are wonderful all around and stay round. I got several miles out of my 33's without a hint of odd wear.
I'm currently on STT pro's now. LOVE these things! Dear LORD at the traction offroad!!!!

I have Pro Comp MT2 and love them. Ride is great on road, and amazing traction off. For the money, hands down best tire I have run yet. I have run KO2, and AT KOs as well as grapplers. The grapplers were amazing, but almost double the cost of the ProComps.

How did they balance? I'm bringing these back to the tire place tomorrow since I am back in town. I jacked the jeep up and ran it in 4 high and the three that took a lot of weight have 1/4 in to 1/2 in hop in them. The one that took .25oz spins almost perfectly round.
Beadlocks, and airsoft bead balanced.
Since these are steel without centering rings they're not 100% square on the rims but I can so 80 no problems, no death wobble, no bounce. I have an occasional slight shake at 48 but that's all
Well I brought the tires and wheels back to where I bought them yesterday.....somehow the tires they "couldn't" dynamic balance managed to get dynamic balanced yesterday. Threw them on today and took it for a quick ride and so fat so good! It's a little darty on a few roads but they did actually replace one tire and that is on the left front. I'm going to put a few miles on it so it rounds off the corners a bit and see if that corrects it. Worse case if that doesn't do it I'm going to put just a touch more toe in it and I think it will be all good!
