Thought I'd get another perspective than my own on what my next set of wheels and tires might be and stumbled on this thread. I'm currently rocking the stock wheels and tire size on my 1999 TJ Sport with the 2.5 squirrel power, manual trans. I don't DD it but I do like to cruise around and that requires at least some interstate driving to get where I can take her off-road in Alabama. I'm not doing any rock crawling out here (not Arizona anymore!) so it's mostly foresty-type trails.
I'm looking at going with a 15x7 set of wheels and 235/75r15 tires at just under 29" (specifically duratracs) and wanted to get anyone else's thoughts, especially if you've run a similar combo. I would prefer to not have to do a lift or to keep it at under 2 inches if I do, and also would like not to have to regear. If I was going to regear, then I'd be looking at going larger, in the neighborhood of 33s and a lift but I like the idea of staying a little lower and staying closer to stock if it still is useable on the highway while still making me a little more capable for the lighter trail work I'm doing.
Any input would be appreciated, thanks!
