Help help 1997 Jeep tj automatic 6 cylinder on 33s I’ve replaced fuel pump tps iac map upstream o2 distributor cap rotor button still having issues with a ruff idle/put into reverse and drive at low rpms and kinda almost stalls but runs like hammered dog poop feeling confused and issues seem to go away when going down the road unplugged the o2 it ran fine for the weekend now back to the same Ol crap with it unplugged help help any input would be great

Would suggest you reconnect the O2 sensor, warm up the engine to operating temperature and connect a scan tool to read the O2 sensor voltages; below .3 Vdc is running lean and above .07 Vdc voltage is running rich. Normal is .3-.7 Vdc

Hey sorry learning how to use this what about the coolant temp sensor

Doubtful the engine coolant temperature sensor has much to do with the rough idle and low RPMs.
IF there were a problem with the coolant temperature sensor; there would probably be a red Check Gauges displayed on the instrument cluster indicating out of the normal low engine operating temperature.

Ok update drove it down the road had a pop and a weird smoke now it won’t crank posting this while on the side of the road

Won't crank (turn over)?
Or, cranks over fine but won't fire?

Have you been messing with opda by any chance?

Don't disregard coolant temp sensor, shit is weird sometimes, simply skip through forum and see if it may have any relationship.

Crankshaft position sensor? There are a number of things that can cause NO SPARK but it seems like you've already checked off a lot of those boxes.

Have you checked for 12V to the positive and ground on the negative terminals of the coil ?
There is a Cam Position Sensor of sorts inside the distributor for vehicles that have distributors; check that component....
Yeah I figure that’s going to be my next step now this whole thing is crazy wonder if that’s my sputtering issue

Yeah that’s going to be my next step hopefully that will fix it wonder if that could be my sputtering issue too

Update!… well after new o2 sensor the mechanic kept getting a code that the upstream o2 had a short fixed that also the coil went out during all this and the crank shaft sensor was not installed right…. How idk another mechanic did that so hopefully this is a fix everything is running fine but I kinda feel like it’s gonna come back….
