@Dave K. and I have been searching for a truck to replace his Escalade before it nickeled and dimed us to death. After searching all different options knowing that dave wanted at bigger motor to pull the boat and car trailer. We test drove a diesel and several gmcs and Silverado Ltzs . Of course Dave loved the diesels but with the price being almost 20;000 more, we couldn’t justify it. We ended up getting this 2015 Silverado ltz with a rocky ridge altitude package on it. Basically lifts it and puts on high end springs and adds an extra leaf spring and several other things.
I invested half of the cost without seeing it hoping Dave knew what he was doing. It only has 36;000 miles on it. I’m now realizing that Dave fell in love with the sound( oh it has upgraded exhaust also). I’m hoping this Lasts us for a while.

Great looking truck guys! Way better looking than the Ford IMHO.

How did the Escalade nickel and dime you TJ death? Won’t this be the same way since it’s produced by GM, who also owns Cadicallac?
 
The miles we’re getting higher on the cadi, and it was just a matter of time before big things started to go wrong, And the cost of parts for the Escalade I’m told is higher . Time will tell how this one holds up. I don’t want to jinx it by talking about the negatives, so i know it’s going to be a very reliable /fun truck for us.

With all the recent vibration talk, I told dave if I felt any vibration at 75, he would have to buy me out. I’m a bit gun shy now I think. It has a pretty smooth ride for a lifted , big tired truck.
 
I gotcha! And yes, I suspect you’d be paying more for Cadillac parts simply because of the name. I know how that goes with my past BMWs. Never again... ever.
 
Well, the next purchase is a car for me and of course the bmw is what I want . I fell in love with my sisters car, but yes, parts are ridiculous. Why do I have to have expensive taste? Why? I’m leaning toward another Honda or Camry Hoping that will curb my need for luxury. Which is funny because my tj is my favorite vehicle and the furthest from luxury. But who knows.

Trust me... you’ll find out within a few years of owning that BMW how absurd they are in terms of cost. My mom decided to sell hers after a few years of owning it due to the absurd maintenance and repair costs. After owning 4 BMWs, I can attest to that.

Great cars to drive, just not to own ;)

Thank you, we never saw ourselves in a white vehicle, but this one was pretty special.
 
Nice truck! Caddy's really shouldn't be TOO terribly much more to maintain than a standard GM vehicle. The important parts are all the same based on platform. I had an avalanche that I put nearly 200,000 miles on...I had two problems with it in 10 years...The water pump went out, and I had to rebuild the rear end (lost the crosspin in the Diff and it grenaded everything else). Other than that, standard stuff that you'd expect to replace, I replaced...Rebuilt the front end, did wheel bearings, shocks, U-joints, etc.

Unfortunately, the rust worm got in and rotted the rockers. I sold it while it still looked good. Got 7500 bucks for it too! It was a great truck...I miss it.

I'm back in a GM again and hoping to put another 200K on this one.

Yeah, the good ol rust spares no vehicle. My dad has a gm and has over 300,000 on his truck and still going strong. Thanks to this forum Dave and I have taken to fixing our own vehicles so I’m sure we will keep up on the maintence with this one. We are already talking about rust protection and our options.

Ohhhh that's niiiicce….love the flared guards on that too....Usally not a fan of white but that looks good. well done.

Looks good! Ive always been a fan of GMC/Chevrolet.

Cant wait til I can finally pick up another truck.

While we also picked up a 2015...and it also has 36,000 miles on it...that is where the similarity ends, sadly. We got a CRV. You got a bad-ass ride!!! Congratulations, folks!

Thank you Squatch. I like Honda’s , but never drove a crv. I had a ninties prelude, and then an early 2000 accord. Both were great, fun, reliable vehicles. Be thankful your wife doesn’t wAnt high end vehicles. Sounds like she’s quite reasonable and low maintenance:). Just like the crv:jump1:

Sweet truck. I imagine you'll also see a savings on insurance since the Escalade was such a high target of theft. Hope this works out well for ya.

Thanks, I didn’t ask dave how much cheaper the insurance was. Ill have to ask him.
