I am buttoning up some steering issues and noticed that my SS is loose at the eye. The bushings look fine and the SS is only two years old. It seems that the bolt is quite smaller that the ID of the sleeve in the bushing. I can twist it side to side about 1/8”. Is this amount of play ok? Should I go with a new bolt or new bushing? Or let it be? It definitely is contributing to the misc. rattles on the old girl.

Welcome

Normally, the inside diameter of the sleeve is irrelevant.
The bolt (or nut), when tightened, should squeeze and hold the sleeve by the ends.
I wouldn't want any play. It leads to wear and eventually failure.
