I wouldn't go with steel wheels if you do much in the rocks - they're too easy to bend and lose air, especially at the low pressures many of us run offroad. If you don't drop too much pressure they're probably fine though.

A good hammer gets them back into shape on the trail. Done it a few times. it's not fun at all and it's hard work to get it back into shape but it works better than a broken cast rim. I strongly suggest earplugs lol. It all depends on what type of wheeling you do and what size tires you're running.
 
I put on a set a few months ago and have no complaints. I checked the run out on them when I put them on with a dial indicator. they checked really good.
