I have 2000 2.5 that ticks on start up. It will tick but when I hit the gas it stops. Then comes right back after I let go of gas. After the jeep warms up it does not tick at all. I have checked the oil level and it looks good. The oil is dirty but there is oil in there. My question is this the exhaustmanifold leak I have heard about, lifters or worse like bad oil pressure?

Could be a stuck lifter or a failing oil pump. If it just started and your oil is old I would start with a good oil change with a premium oil and see if it quiets things down.
When cold I would expect an exhaust leak to get louder with an increase in rpm. Also an exhaust leak will not go away and come back unless it just being masked by the engine noise. Generally a lifter will be a metalic sound and an exhaust leak will be more of a sputtering sound.

You might try tightening up the two bolts where the exhaust manifold and exhaust pipe come together. If that gets a little loose, it'll tick.
Hello all, say this is a lifter, is there a possible fix to this like certain oils, or an additive that I can add that can fix this instead of trying to change the lifters which I have no idea how to do. I am assuming it is the lifters due to the fact that it goes away as I put power to the vehicle. And it is a tick.
