Hi Guys, brand new to jeep and this forum.
I have a 02 TJ sport that is my daily driver.

I ran across this thread bc a buddy has a 1977 Golden Eagle he is wanting to sell, so I was doing my due diligence and trying to educate myself on
Jeep and the Golden Eagle. Looks like they were made from 1977-83 and had only a V8.

In any case, I think I'm a bit confused or naive on whether this ebay motors ad is correct. It looks to me that this guy just put
Golden Eagle stickers on a TJ and is calling it a TJ - X or they made these in 02 and I'm just not aware.
Just thought I'd get you're all's input on the topic.

thanks for any input you all can offer.
cheers

There was actually a special edition Golden Eagle TJ produced. Can't remember the year. I've seen only one in person, so I'd imagine they are fairly rare. It was stock with gold enhanced echo wheels. Not sure what else they put on them. Maybe those seats. That one has a 3" body lift!!

Basically they have Sahara drivetrain features (Dana 44 rear/30 or 35 front, beats me ) and the golden eagle dress package if I’m correct.. All I have see have a hardtop, and were black.

Long story short, the seller in the ad just put stickers on his TJ. It has a CJ-7 sticker on the back if that tells you anything.

So a couple of things, the Jeep in the link you provided is not a real “Golden Eagle,” that Jeep produced. Jeep only produced the GE in 06 and only ~2k units were built for the US domestic market. Other than the stickers, seat covers, and rear tire cover, they aren't really “special” IMO as they are mainly stickers and small additions that dont really add any value.

The sticker is not the eagle that came off the TJ GE package. The Golden Eagle lettering on the hood is not the TJ GE package font or color. And on the back of the TJ in the ebay link it has a, “C7-7” sticker on it. But the CJ wasnt a wrangler. The Jeep Wrangler didnt come out until the YJ body was released.

Little mis information in this thread. They are repainted, “Ravine,” wheels and its a Dana 44 rear with a Dana 30 front. Not a Dana 35 front.

When people selling things are as full of shit as this seller, I don't trust the vehicle at all. Yeah, the stickers are wrong, the CJ7 on the back is idiotic, and the body lift is too high and looks stupid.

Ahhhhhh! Great info there! I was not sure of the exact wheel, I knew it was one of the stock wheels with added gold trim.

Very cool. love the colours, he obviously found an original decal package and used it very well. Looks like a very clean 2002. Altho there are several bolt ons which show poor taste.

No where does he say "original"
my only criticism is the "lift done the correct way" comment

low mileage, new frame, new paint, interior looks new, might be a buy for $12K.
all the ugly shit is bolt on.

The decals and wheels are from a real Golden Eagle package that was available in '05 or '06. One year only thing.

Thanks guys! I knew if I went to the experts I'd get the correct answer!

I appreciate all of the feedback.
I wasn't interested in purchasing the TJ in the link I posted, it was more for my own info, so I appreciate the education.

However on a side note, and if this is not the correct place for this question, pls let me know.....I've got a lead on a 1978 CJ 304 V8 - Golden Eagle....friend of friend bought it as a restoration project but never got to it...... It runs and drives. Frame is solid. Waiting on pix and to see it. Seller wants $2800. I know its a broad question....but worth it even in rough shape given its a GE?

Thanks again
JR

It would really depend on the condition of it. Sounds cheap, is there a lot wrong with it?

While those are correct golden eagle decals, they are not correct for the TJ. Those are for the CJ. I had a 79 cj7 golden eagle edition and I remember getting excited about the TJ when I first saw the GE package. The TJ package does Not have the big eagle on the hood. I do seem to remember a eagle somewhere on it but it was a different eagle than the Cj.
Oh and the CJ version was not only available with the v8. Mine had a straight six

Yeah, I couldn't remember exactly what the hood decals looked like, but I knew they we're similar. The eagle is there just above the "Jeep" on the tub between the door and fender. I want to say you could get the hood eagle from the dealership, but I can't remember. I use to work at a Jeep dealer, but I left in '06.

Yes, you could have gotten the eagle on the hood for the TJ’s with the GE package. Mine came without. But a few out there have it. Its big! Prob not as big as the CJ but it took up most of the TJ hood real estate IIRC.

You are correct sir- it he only TJ Golden Eagle built was 06 and I have one. The VIN search can be used to pull the build sheet and mine does indeed show Dana 44 rear and Dana 35 front. The seats are embroidered with the GE and the build sheet declares it build number 1100. Not sure how many they made. But other than that it’s pretty much the same as any other TJ. Mine wasn’t sold with a hard top and is painted white from the factory.

Lol, 30 is right. I feel like such an idiot after joining the forum because I’m just starting to get the itch to start building my old jeep and after 15 years of owning it I feel like I should be more informed. I bought the jeep years ago because my exwife wanted it. She’s no longer with us and 15 years later i have it back in my possession and I decided I want to start fixing it up and really have no basic knowledge of the TJ or the Golden Eagle. I found the VIN checker on Google that will allow you to view the build sheet and the only reason I was interested in checking was bc I read on this forum that there are a lot of Golden Eagle fakes out there. I was relieved to find out that the dealership didn’t screw me over lol.
