In regards to the post about Derale 20561 cooler by Jerry and others I ordered this kit. I knew from critiques on Amazon that I probably would have issues installing it on Stinger. However, I have heating issues with Stinger. Having a AC condenser and a transmission radiator in front of the main engine radiator probably does not help. So I decided to take a chance. I received the cooler/fan today and was really impressed. It had everything to complete a trouble free no problems install on a non modified TJ. On Stinger, well that's another issue. I have found a place the main items will fit and work in front of the gas tank and above the rear axles. I will follow up with photos on my install. Understand--I have a 6L90 GM transmission and a ton of other-than-stock stuff under the body so apply as it may fit your application.

Congrats! I've been running one for a long time now, and I absolutely love it. I've done lots of wheeling in it, and it really does the trick.

Looking forward to following your progress on this!
Jerry all the mock up is done and I will post pictures when finished. I used 1 1/2 in square tube to make mounts that lower the cooler that far in addition the reversing the supplied aluminum brackets. I should provide for maximum airflow. It fits nicely between the Nth Stinger and the sway bar bracket and far enough forward to have no clearance problem from the trac bar.
Does anyone know which port, top or bottom, is the output from the 6L90 to the cooler? I can't find it in the specs anywhere.

When I tried to find the actual output port on the 6L90 transmission I kept finding thread about installs and ALL of them said this was a supplemental cooler in-line with the factory cooler. I had an oh shi* moment because I had already removed the cooler that I imported from the truck donor. After a call to Deraler I found that this cooler and fan was quite acceptable as a replacement I tried several time to get the kit hose AN fitting to seal up to my transmission and could not. Just so happened that the SS braided lines from the truck fit nicely with the relocated cooler and didn't leak at all.. Unfortunately I lost a quart of fluid after finding leaks with the kit hoses and cant get any more until tomorrow for a test drive!

Looks great, nice job!

On the fan wiring, I would connect it to a constant +12v source. The fan often needs to run for a minute or two after shutting the engine off but it won't otherwise turn on by itself after the engine is off so it could ever drain the battery.

That is what I was thinking. My engine fan often runs a minute or so after shutdown. As it is I did direct wire it to a constant hot pole in the PD box

Well after a very through shake down in Utah, Colorado, and Arizona I had to make some changes. The Deraler by its self doesn't do the job. I don't have a tranny gauge but the tranny is smart enough to protect itself by going into limp mode. Which it did on the freeway. Second issue is where I mounted it looked fine for clearance. Nope stinger portion of the rear suspension moved up and left at FULL stuff and hit the cooler bracket.
Solution. I reinstalled the main cooler on the grill V bar and moved the cooler to the passengers side rear part of the tub. I had zero issues with mud, debris, rocks, etc hitting it where it was so I am satisfied with that. Used the lines that came with the kit to reach from the front cooler to the rear but had to buy a fitting to join the two AN 6 hose fittings.
All is back together but can't test it just yet. The power steering system is under going a line revamp. After Blaine reminded me just how little I actually know, I have relocated the ps cooler to the wheel well and replumbed it so it receives fluid coming from the steering gear box.:bash:
Jeep is just one constant learning process compounded by major conversions/modification. But hey I am helping the economy,

Well at least you're paving the way for all the other guys who might end up with a V8 swap and run into these issues. My Derale cooler works fine, but then again, I've just got a measly 6 cylinder!

The engine isn't the issue. The 6L90 is big! Is your Derale a supplemental or only cooler?

One thing you can count on is that I know a hell of a lot more about a V8 swap than I did before I started!
