Water Leaks

I have noticed that when it rains, my Jeep collects small puddles of water in both sides of my floorboard.

I have full doors, a hard top, and no clue where the leak is coming from.

I tried to see if I could make my cowl fill up with water to overflow water into my air intake (by hosing water into my cowl), but that didn't work. No water came through into my cab at all.

I looked to see if there were any water marks/trails behind my dash that would lead me to where a leak in the firewall or something. And I did find dried water trails but they disappeared behind all my dash components so I couldn't find where it's coming from.

And, sometimes I get no water at all in my floor boards when it rains.

Are there any notorious water leak spots that y'all know of?

Well, water runs down, so if I had to guess it's coming from your header seal, upper door seals, or somewhere near your front cowling. It has to be one of those locations if it's leaking into your front floorboards.

I guess should I spray a hose onto certain parts of my Jeep to see if I can re-create the leak?

If you have an early TJ, it could be the vent for your HVAC box under the cowl vent. Jeep changed the fresh air intake in this area because of the water leaking onto the floor boards. I modded my early 97 to keep this from happening when heavy rains come or the car wash. Easy fix if you remove your wiper arms and the cowl vent cover the wipers come through. Early Jeep TJ's have the vent area wide open, later ones have a deflector cover designed into the fresh air intake area. It will be obvious when you see it. Trying to flood your cowl with a garden hose won't work unless your under hood drain tube located behind your motor against the firewall is clogged. Sometimes you can replicate it with strong high volume blast into the passenger side of the vent or the passenger seam of the cowl cover or park with tilt towards the passenger side off camber but not always. I believe this problem was fixed after the first 3 to 4 years of TJ production.
