What should I fix / upgrade?

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum as of a few weeks ago, but I've been trolling for months. I purchased a 98 TJ Sahara 4.0 manual last August and I'm wondering what I should consider fixing/upgrading next. I was thinking about shocks and springs, but everything seems pretty okay right now.

The TJ has 123k miles and is in great shape. I'd like to retain the stock profile until I'm more proficient offroad. We have two young kids and live in Bend, Oregon (We're originally from Alaska). We plan on doing mostly forest service roads and the easier OHV trails, and camping around the State. I think I have an okay recovery set for what we'll do. No winch yet. We'll probably nothing crazy until we have time to commit to a Jeep club.

Here's what my wife and I have completed to the TJ so far:

• Replaced all U-Joints and Ball Joints (Spicer Greaseless)
• Replaced Unit Bearing Hubs
• New Tires
• Replaced mirrors
• Replaced tailgate hardware
• Interior fixes (paracord door stoppers)
• Replaced all fluids in the Jeep

To Do

1. Exhaust Manifold (I have the manifold and hardware, but haven't had the time to replace anything).

Gear Purchased:

• First Aid Kit
• ARB snatch strap
• Tow Strap
• 2" hitch and receiver and D-ring
• Air compressor
• ARB deflator
• Tire repair kit
• Tire valves, stems, etc
• Fire Extinguisher
• NOCO Boost GB40
• GoTreads
• Shovel
• Hitch Cargo Rack

I'll get some pictures up once it stops raining. I appreciate any of your thoughts.

Welcome from Salem, Oregon!

You'd be wise to refresh the entire cooling system given the age and mileage of the vehicle (unless you have records of it being done recently), especially with the hot time of the year coming up.
