Hi! I am pretty new to the off roading community. I have a jeep but I'm sad how it never sees some dirt and off roading. But thats going to change. My dad and I went to a few places to ask where we can off road and they all said Cal Mountain. I was wondering if theres anything closer to Sonoma County? I don't really know where to go. So any help would be great. Thank you for reading my post!

There are 8 state owned State Vehicle Recreation Areas. The 3 closest to you are:

Prairie City SVRA

Hollister Hills SVRA
https://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=1179
Carnegie SVRA

The BLM manages a number of OHV areas. The closest to you is Cow Mountain OHV area near Ukiah:

There is also Chappie/Shasta Off-Highway Vehicle Recreation Area just below Shasta Dam in Shasta County and Frank Raines OHV park in Patterson.

Those should get you started.

Mendocino National Forest is a relatively short drive for you, and has miles and miles of forest service roads you can explore. Matter of fact, a group of us are heading up there this Saturday for our annual Xmas tree run.
Knoxville, between Lake and Napa counties has some trails as well as camping opportunities.
