Where does this vacuum line go?

I was able to connect the mightyvac to the gauge, was able to pull 30lbs, both gauges matched along the way = gauge confirmed to be working.



Just looked, everything appears to be connected, all the way over to the connection on the manifold.


The hose to the reservoir has a crack on the boot. I unplugged it from the reservoir and plugged it with a golf tee, but that doesn't seem to affect operation. I'm going to double check those tests here in a little bit. Is there a good replacement for this boot/hose, or do I just get some hose from the parts store and cobble together fittings to get the sizes right?

Here is an assortment. Check the line right at the firewall I have found a lot of leaks there, bend the hose a bit to look for cracks.

Finally got back to this. Turns out I probably had several simultaneous issues. The boot on the line to the reservoir was cracked and not holding pressure. Then the "hard line" that runs across the firewall was brittle and I cracked it while moving it around, but it was very likely already cracked. And then the check valve at the manifold was also faulty. The one at the firewall works great.

So I ran a new 3/16" hose from the manifold directly to the black hose that pokes through the firewall to supply vacuum to the HVAC control. Oh and I put the check valve in there as well...so basically I eliminated one check valve (since I don't have a replacement on hand yet) and bypassed the reservoir. I have ~18lbs at idle, and it seems like all the door functions work, although there is a little bleed at the hands/feet only settings.

Once the new check valves arrive I'll plumb it how it was from the factory.


Epilogue: looks like testing for individual vacuum on all the colored hoses may not be completely valid. Some hoses may only hold vacuum if certain pairs are plugged or something. That's my best guess, since regardless of what my unit testing showed, the system integration testing shows everything working. Now we get to replace the heater core.

i recently just figured out that my blend doors did not function when using the switch. Heat was coming out of everywhere. After reading this post , I went out and traced all of the lines. Ended up the hose at the reservoir under the battery had about an 1” crack in it. fixed it up and back in business. Works great now
