Hey all,

My Jeep is an 03 sport 4.0 with the 42RLE, just started to have some whinning noises this morning and originally after a 30 minute drive assumed it was the trans. I checked the fluid after the drive and it was not low so let it cool off for 6 hours and decided to run it again, this time the whine happens again under temp and while parked. Idle is fine but above 2k rpms it whines. Car has 150k on it with regular oil changes every 4,000 miles. Bought with 125k and havent touched the trans fluid as I have heard of slipping issues if it isnt changed often.

From reading here it can either be an alternator, power stearing pump, rear diff/pilotbearing ( likely not the case since it whines in park in my understanding) or the trans internals. Love any input here.
