Will Wheels with 5x4.5 -43 offset work on my stock 2005 Jeep Wrangler Sport?

I'm looking to purchase some used 31/10.50R15 Gladiator Xcomp M/T tires on Baja Alloy rims (5x4.5 -43 offset) for my 2005 Jeep Wrangler Sport. I currently have stock 30/9.5/R15 Tires with the stock Ravine Alloy wheels. The specs for the Ravine wheels are listed as 15x8, 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern, backspacing 5.5", Offset +25 mm. Since I won't be able to try Gladiator tires/Baja rims on my Jeep before purchasing, will the Gladiator tires and Baja rims with -43 offset work on my Jeep without any mods? The party I'm buying the tires from used them on a 95 Jeep Wrangler.

In the Jeep world we don't use offset, we use backspacing.

In order to figure it out, you need to know the width of those rims, then plug it in here with the offset:

If those are steel wheels though, I wouldn't waste my time with them personally.

Ok. Thanks! I believe the rims are Aluminum Alloy. I think they are the American Racing AR172 Baja wheels.

The seller says the rims are 10.5" wide. Plugging 10.5 and 43 offset into the online calculator reveals a 7.44" backspace. Not sure what all this means, but would this work with my Jeep?

10.5 outer edge to out edge? I think I read it is where the bead sits to the other bead shelf. I could be wrong.

No, those will fit terribly. Time to find some different wheels.

7.44" backspacing? My goodness that's bad, haha. Even with a wheel spacer it would still be bad.

Using the calculator that Chris referenced, a 10.5 @-43 would be 4.06 back spacing, right? I think he used a positive number. He did say -43 right? (Negative 43)

That's the way I read it.

I can only see a 7.44" backspacing on some thing like the front axle of a Ram 3500 and I don't even know if that's close to being right.

I wouldn’t recommend buying tires or anything else that is wet to make them look better. Need to see them dry to spot dry rotting and real condition. I’d pass if I were you. Don’t by tires that are posted with tire dressing either. Just some friendly advice

At 10.5", too wide for a 4x4. -43 on a 10.5" rim is a 4" backspace which is the most popular backspace for a TJ but you likely want an 8" rim, which would be zero offset, 4" backspace for an 8" rim.

And I agree with chapman. Do not waste time on anything polished to look like something it is not.

But a nice package if you want that look, yes they will fit.

yes, the stock Wrangler offset from'87 thru '06 was +25, on the 15x8 rim, that is 5.5" backspace. The dimpled steel 15x7 rim also had a 5.5" backspace which is +39 0ffset.

Right now I am running 16x6.5 rims with a 5.5" backspace, or +45 offset. With 7.50R16 tires.

I run the 8x15 version of these same wheels with 31x10.5 tires on my 99 TJ with a 2" spacer lift an 1" body lift. My wheels have a +20mm offset which gives the wheel roughly 5.25" of backspacing. I am old school and like my wheels tucked in under my fenders. With this amount of backspacing, it definitely comes real close to the tie rod ends, but I am happy with where they sit.
