Need new catalytic converter and advice

Car started shaking and engine light started blinking on the high way today. The engine light did not stay on after pulling over and restarting jeep but now have a ticking sound whenever accelerating. I know I need to replace the cats anyways because I got the code to replace them earlier last month but have not had the funds to do so yet. Ive been looking around and prices are very high and noticed these on ebay. I know people have used Amazon brand cats and they say their Jeeps run better than before

I replaced mine earlier this year with a Flowmaster for about $260. Great fit, I recommend.

After looking a few minutes and not finding what I'm talking about, I realized the one I installed is now almost $1,000 . Maybe the price will eventually go back down.

Holy shit, yeah I got the same replacement for $200 last summer. Sold the factory cats to some tweeker on Craigslist for $210. Mine has developed a rattle inside one of the mini cats, haven't pulled it off to inspect yet

Good God! I looked online to see how much the one I bought costs now and it's a whopping $553! I bought it in 2018 for quite a lot less and have yet to install it.

Almost sold it thinking I didnt need it, but I know it's coming, for sure.

What are other signs and symptoms of bad catalytic converters? Is excessive heat from floor board one of them?

Yes, mine was noticeably hotter.

Jeesh, how much hotter can the floors get? My old CJ and TJ have always had quite hot floorboards. Guess it'd be that much hotter if mine crap out.

I noticed it mostly in the transmission tunnel and my tuffy console.

I bought my magnaflow cat back in 2018 for 452.00. It was the complete cat, front and rear. The same system is now 1200.00.
I've also had to remove the rear section twice to reweld the hanger. I dont know if it's due to the pipe being relatively thin or what but the pipe will crack along the weld.

I installed Magnaflow 93649 on my LJ in April 2021. This replaced Eastern Catalytic Converter 20379. I paid $334 for Eastman and $954 for Magnaflow.

The pipe in the Eastman system kept coming apart at the 3rd cat and I never could get a good seal at the manifold. I have not had any issues with the Magnaflow system and the welding at the 3rd cat is beautiful.

Something I learned from replacing the system a few times is to leave all fasteners loose until the skid is back in place. This insures there is no tension on anything, particularly the 3rd cat hanger.
