Should I buy a 241 transfer case?

So I found a rubi 241 transfer case for sale near me,
Its for sale for $300...

ASSUMING that its in good condition should I buy it?

How much money would it take to make it fit an AX-15?

One problem I've heard with this is that the 241 is very big, would this not be a problem with my 1.25" BL?

I wouldn't, it's big and heavy, only offers a little different ratio and means driveshaft work. Not allot of bang for your buck, the 231 is a great case. Besides that Rubi looks like it's seen some use.

I have a Rubicon with the 241 and I really like the 4:1 low range.

I also have a 1.25" BL and the Savvy Under Armor TT. I did have to make a little room in 1 spot on the underside of the tub for clearance. With some TT's this may not be be necessary.

I think the speedo output is different on the 241 vs the other TJ TC but I'm not sure about that.

If it is in good condition, sounds like an awesome deal.

Replacing your present 231 with a 241 is not a direct bolt-in job. I wouldn't except for a rock crawler rig that is doing very tough trails.

You don't need it. If you want to buy it to resell it for a profit that's a different story.

you are right I don't need it, it just feels illegal to pass up such a great deal.
plus I would feel horrible for buying it then turning around and selling it for profit

Don't, that's called being smart and using your $$$ wisely. IF it's in good condition that is.

The price sounds to good to be true.

That said, swapping one in is only useful if you do a fair amount of slow crawling. I've generally found the 231s 2.72:1 ratio to be a more useful in our area. Also, the 231 is lighter, easier to work on, parts are readily available, and it's strong and relaible.

If the 241 is something that is decent, buy it, flip it, and use the profit for other Jeep mods. There is absolutely nothing wrong with doing that!

You answered your own question. Many will pay $1500 for a good working case. My guess would be if you post it up for $1200 to $1500 it would sell quick. You just don't see these available like before.

That is a lesson in and of itself... If your gut tells you it's a good deal, and you have the cash, jump! Real deals like that don't last long.

I missed out on a flip opportunity a couple years ago...1500 dollars for a whole Jeep. Running and driving. I wanted to get my wife's permission... But the time I reached out to the guy, it was gone.

it's a whole other story when you have to convince your Dad it's a good deal.
