I have kmc aluminum beadlocks machete on my Jeep JKU and want to put those rims on my TJ. A TJ Sport wouldn't be able to run 35" tires would it? I was thinking of using adapters but i've read adapters are bad and if i'm already risking it with 35" then I might as well change axles.

What is the most common/easiest swap to do that would allow me to use 5x5 and <38" tires but isnt to expensive? I'm building my TJ to really only be used for offroading so I might just get 38" tires instead of the 35" tires from my JKU. I'm also in the process of installing overline fenders so the only fitment issue would be the axles.

I'd also like to install lockers on it.

How much lift do you have?

Changing axles just to match your rims is not a great idea.

A build for 35" tires TJ is expensive.

I still haven't got them installed but it will be 4" lift with Savvy Aluminum Control Arm kit / Fox Shocks (Currently it has a 3" lift). Nemesis Industries Aluminum Highline fender kit. I did install Savvy Aluminum Armor, 1.5" body spacers with Aluminum belly up skid plate and gas skid. I've been slowly building it so if I ever wanted to go 35"+ tires, I could. The axles have just been the limiting factor because of how expensive a new set would be. I was hoping I could "build" something with very little modification. My dad knows how to weld a little so I can buy an axle kit if there are any. I was hoping there would be an axle set similar to YJ's ford 8.8 swap that made it easy and cheap.

Also I use my JKUR for overlanding and I realized I'd rather have a lightweight wheelset on my JKUR so I can get a slight MPG improvement. I'm getting around 12mpg and it makes it hard to go far without having to refuel. I also tend to never go below 15psi so I don't really have a use for beadlocks on it. I figured since I want new rims, I could put the beadlocks on my TJ, upgrade to 35"+ compatible axles, and upgrade to lockers. I'd be okay on 35s for my TJ too if my current axles could run them. My current axles are stock which I think are Dana 30s? It's a 1999 Sport.

TJs run 35s all the time. The requirements are very well discussed and documented.

Wheel adapters are not a problem. Try for 4" of backspacing. No less than 3.75".

There is no cheap or easy way of running 38s.

@Chris should sell Wrangler TJ Forum yoga pants. MetalNope could include a pair in every box. Would be the best Jeep upgrade you can do.

avoid those and look into a true highline fender setup
