Thanks for the add!! I am new to the Jeep scene. Have an '03 hardtop. Wonder how to prevent moisture from building up/collecting inside? What is the best remedy for mildew?

There shouldn't be moisture collecting inside at all. If that is the case then you most certainly have seals somewhere that aren't sealing properly. Notable your header seal, door deals, or tailgate seal.

It's possible you could have a bad heater core as well (though you'd probably know if you did).

Pull the carpets and make sure they are dry and that it's also dry under the carpets.

A weak bleach solution or full strength Lysol will kill the bleach but won't do any good until you get rid of the moisture. If you have carpets pull them out and dry to vehicle. Then using a garden hose start low on the jeep and run water over all seams, joints, doors, windows and in particular the front windshield. Helps to have an observer inside while you do this. Take you time and you will find it. Also check to see if your heater drain, and intake drain are not plugged.
Good luck. Please tell us what you find!:D

Thank you for the feedback!! I know it is not the heater core, but will check all the seals. I'll do the lysol for now too. It is not a good time of year around here to dry to dry anything out. Cannot wait for spring!!

Yes!! Had to put a nerf ball on the spare tire to hold things tight.

Where do you live Amie?

It's been wet as hell here too, but then again, it is Portland, Oregon!

In a little po dunk town 140 miles east of Portland, Oregon. It's been wet even for the desert.

A TJ roof is a single layer of fibreglass. If you live in a coastal or high humidity environment you will see condensation. No way out. Heated garage? Plug in heater? But if you park outside? The dew on the outside will also form on the inside.... only out is to add heat.

Hmmm. My 80s CJ had multiple layers, my 91 YJ, had multiple layers, my 95 YJ had multiple layers, my 2000 TJ had multiple layers, my 05 LJ has multiple layers. Are the different north of the 49th?

My TJ has multiple layers as well, and as I understand it's not fiberglass either. It's some sort of composite.
