Help with aftermarket driving lights

I never understood there was a different between offroad spots and driving fog lights before I got a jeep but I am definitely looking for driving lights as my TJ rarely goes offroad and never at night. Any suggestions?

I have a tube bumper and recently put some 3.5" lights in the 2 mounting points under the tube arch but they look like crap. They are too small. They are also blinding because they are not tall enough to point down as the tube is in the way. They point straight but with a 2.5 lift, that seems to be at eye level with oncoming. Took about 2 minutes one night to realize they had to go off and stay off.

I am really thinking I want double the size, about 7", to match the headlights but that may be too big, 5" or 6" may be the ticket. I do want LED's but I dont need them to burn a hole in the pavement. The 3.5's out shine my LED headlights. I think they are meant to be offroad spots.

Anyway, good suggestions 5-7" driving lights that wont burn holes in oncoming driver's retinas?

The first thing that you're going to hear is to get rid of the tube bumper, they are from the '80s. While I don't necessarily agree with that, getting rid of the hoop will allow you a far larger selection of lights to fit.
I tried LEDs and didn't like them. For me, they made everything look like a overexposed picture, I couldn't see a thing.
In answer to your main question, I like Hella's 500 series of lights. They are 6" in diameter, 55 watt, and available in several varieties. Best of all, they are relatively inexpensive.

Fog lights are amber and meant for use in fog since fog droplets don't reflect amber color back at the eyes as much which makes it harder to see through the fog. They are also designed to be low power so they don't reflect back as much from the fog so they are useless as driving lights.

Look at driving lights like spot beams or driving beams, they reach out further and are more useful on the highway or back roads.

For those who live in areas that ice up, it's best to stay away from LED lights that don't get warm enough to keep the ice off. Incandescent bulbs get hot and are the better choice in icy/cold conditions.

I guess being a kid of the 80's is why I like the look so that's really all that matters to me...what I like so the tubes will stay. Besides, the weight of the tubes seem to help the old 4 banger move a little better. Thanks for your suggestion on the lights. I will have a look.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the tube bumper, but a lot of others do. Frankly, I like it without the hoop, though. When I had my YJ, I had one without the hoop, so I mounted a piece of flat steel between the light tabs which gave me room for 4 lights on it.

No worries...i'm just too old to care about what others think and I go with what I like LOL. Since I only do light offroading (aka a dirt road), I have no need for eye hooks, massive steel bumpers or a winch as it just weighs the thing down. If I was the adventurous trail type, I would probably go with that gear but I also wouldnt have purchased a 4cyl. They are fairly bullet proof but I may drop an inline 6 or my Niece's 4.8LS she is selling in it at some point. Lot of modding for a LS though. Anybody have a 4.0 for sale?

Driving/fog lights is more about having them placed (or aimed) low enough to help light up the road.
Also, you'll find the street legal ones are usually 55W or less.
Not saying you can't put brighter ones on, but make sure they're aimed properly.
I have Warn's 3.5", but they also make a 6.5".
Just enough to help light up the ditches.
