Hi folks. Have a perplexing issues. When in 2wd or 4wd and turning all the way to steering stop I hear a grinding sound right front wheel (p/s) when moving. Back off the steering wheel a little and no noise. No noise when driving. No noise at any speed.
168,000 miles did replace driver side hub 4 years ago because wheel was loose. The passenger side is tight. Cannot create the sound on jack stands.
I can back off the wheel 1 inch and no noise. Also hard right to stop on grass no noise. Right bearing original. So I removed hub and axel and u joint was going bad (hard grease rust color in one cap but joint was still moving free.
So I replaced hub and u joint and the noise is still there. Could it be the Spyder gears in the front differential? This jeep has been amazing. At 168,000 miles it still has about 85% of it's original parts Any thoughts
