Which soft top should I go with?

Another question... daughter wants to go to a soft top. But not sure what to pic... All my TJ''s had Bestop Supertops... but the reviews lately look so so.

She also wants a sunrider if possible.

These are my options.
1. Bestop 54720-15 Black Denim Supertop NX Complete Replacement Soft Top w/ Tinted Windows for 1997-2006 Jeep Wrangler
2. Buy an OEM soft top hardware and get a regular replacement top.

What do you guys think.

I had the trek top NX and loved it, but you do loose a lot of space and headroom. If she ever has passengers in the rear seat, they have their head in the top constantly. I ended up getting the super top, and gained all my space back. The front still has the sun rider so you can just flip it back whenever. I love it. Bestop is the only top I will likely ever buy. The quality is second to none.

All the original tops were Best tops. I still have an original top and it’s been on there for 15 years. I would check your local Craigslist first for a used one. If not then I’d buy a super top down.

If you can find some hardware local, buy the oem soft top hardware used and a replace a top by bestop in sail cloth material. Several members of the forum run it and its quite nice. Twill is a huge step up in quality and price. If you want it to be easy, just buy the Supertop NX which comes with all the hardware and top.

You really need to provide us with your price range because they can differ quite greatly. I will say, I have owned 4 soft tops in the two years of ownership.

1. Original, cigarette burned top that the previously owner kindly left me which caused me to purchase the next top.
2. Bestop Replace-A-Top Sailcloth, This was a really really nice top, although mine had a manufacturing defect in which there was too much material which caused it to flap. Bestop warrantied it & I asked if I could switch to the Trektop NX, they said it wouldn't be an issue and sent the trektop.
3. Trektop NX, take this with a grain of salt, but I hated this soft top. Its the loudest top I've ever taken the interstate on, the windows are impossible to store other than neatly somewhere in your house, and the header leaked like a sieve. I warrantied the header twice before giving up on it as a conversation on WF instructed me that Bestop's header and Chrysler's header were two different materials and Chrysler's was superior. I have peers that love the crap out of these, but I did not have a positive experience so I am biased in this department.
4. Original Soft top purchased off a local Alabama guy for $150.00 with hardware and windows. It may not be the shiniest top in the world but it does exactly what I want and do it well. I run my hardtop 6 months and I run my soft top 6 months. I personally think the OEM equipment is night and day versus Bestop's, but the fabric is the same (Bestop has been making the factory tops for quite some time).

What I want you to get from this: buy the top that will fit your situation and save money where it can be saved. If your daughter want to EVER be able to fully fold down the top without removing it, this decision is very easy get a Replace-a-top or Supertop NX (very different from the OG supertop). When I eventually wear this top in, my goal is to switch to one of the dyed twill tops offered by Bestop, but not until I can get matching door uppers. We are fortunate enough to have many members who have run these tops for years on this forum, like Jerry who has been running the Supertop NX for quite some time (Bestop even gave him his own interview !)

James, did you ever look at or get the Chrysler header ? Had/still, an issue with my NX Trek Twill header, one replacement. The cabin noise was cut ten fold compared to the stock top I had, but I still have wind leaks at the header.
I did notice a downward curve to the top of the windshield on both sides and pointed that out to bestop, because the header was straight. They couldn't do anything about it. Just curious if the Chrysler header has a slight down curve to it............ Definitely should have kept my stock header......

Thanks. No water leaks on mine, just some wind noise. You would think if air is coming thru, so would the water.... I'll be thankful for no water ..
