IDK in 4 years with JKU and now the TJ the nuts have always been off, hell I keep the keys in the ignition on my 2 collector cars in the garage. That is what insurance is for.

Years ago I had the grill stolen off of my XJ one night when it was parked in my driveway. The Jeep was brand new and I'd only had it for 3 weeks. Someone needed a grill and mine was an easy target.
As for TJ doors, it's unlikely but it could happen. Half doors in particular are attractive and easy to walk off with if someone really wants to. I disconnected the interior lock buttons on mine. I often lock my doors when the top is down or when the uppers are off. A thief can reach in and flip the latches all he wants but he won't get any where ... they don't work. The doors can't be opened which means that that they can't be taken off.

The meth heads and gangs will steal anything and are just another reason is sucks to live in California
At my office/shop I have had the side doors taken off my e350 van and the catalytic cut off.....the doors where probably taken by a slimy body shop that needed them for a job. The cats are very commonly cut off for the precious metals inside by the meth heads.....what drives me nuts is they go to the next block and sell them to one of several metal scrap yards. Then they wait for you to put a new one on and take it again, luckily for some reason the larger E350 does not require a cat so a straight pipe went on.

And @Bird - I’ve watched way too many ID Channel programming to ever, ever trust keeping myself vulnerable to some scumball’s opportunity to take advantage by leaving my doors unlocked- home, that is. Then again, consider where I live. ‘dirty Jersey’ as it’s so often called.

Yea it is pretty nice....but meth heads, idiot kids and crooks are every where...maybe playing a little Russian roulette with the doors, but I will get great shot of them with the security cameras.St James is nice!

That kind of stuff just doesn't happen here, I've forgotten to put my garage door down at night before...never had an issue. Don't hear much about package thieves here either. People just seem to respect each other's property. We also have a high percentage of firearm ownership as well...not sure if the two are related...
You would think that, had both mine stolen and back window of my soft top smashed in. They climbed right over a brand new bag of tools and left with my doors. I now have hinge pin locks on them.
I will have to park my Jeep in the city which isn't great, but there isn't a lot of issues in Pittsburgh for a city. A coworker of mine has a jeep with a hardtop. They stole the tire off the back of her Jeep in the middle of the day in a busy parking lot. Bold.
I have concern about leaving my Jeep parked there. I do ride my bike most of the time and have the biggest lock you can buy on it, but on super lousy rainy days I will want to drive. I sort of like the idea of disconnecting the inside door locks, but that is a bit of a pain as you can't lock the door while in the car. I will have to think about that idea a bit, but it is an interesting one.

I didn't say it never happened...but I don't think its as prevalent as it is in other parts of the country...You can go online and find a story about anything you want. We have murders, rape, white collar crime etc here too. Do I let it worry me? No...still not bad enough for me to worry about. I don't personally know anyone who's had their car broken into, regardless of what the "news" says.

Well, high crime or not, an easy solution to door theft are pin locks. Whether they work or not may be debatable. No one I know who’s used them has had an issue. We can likely all agree, some deterrent / protection is better than nothing at all.

I am so lucky on mine, never lock my doors and/or half doors, don't even bother to worry about them for i know that smart thieves will take it if and when they really want it.
I would imagine crime is very low where you are. It is very low in Pittsburgh for the most part other than some neighborhoods that are bad and make it seem like our city has a lot of crime. It doesn't unless you are in certain areas. I do think places like Miami, LA and big southern cities there is a lot of theft. Miami was really bad when I lived there.
Guess I just wanted to point out everyplace has some crime. All it takes is one person hooked on drugs in a desperate state to take something and try and sell it.
