Old Mopar thoughts ?? 1988 Dodge Ramcharger

I'm passing by this damn 1988 Dodge Ramcharger DAILY in Chicago off Elston Ave in my old neighborhood.
I'm really loving how it looks, I could sell my F150 (owned) and buy this cash
It's literally mint condition IMO and was originally @ $25,000 but its already down to $22,000

I've got a low mileage 12th gen FX4 F150 3.5L I bought new, as a family weekend vehicle.
It barely has 60K on it, and it's a decade old and in mint condition but I have no use for it.
So it's gonna get sold simply because it's just depreciating in my driveway.
I don't tow, and all I've used it for is 4x4 winter & payload usage for landscaping

On the PRO side, the Ramcharger is simpler, has endured 3.5 decades and will be crappy on MPG but simpler to repair.
It's not going to be a DD so the MPG is really irrelevant , and I just want simpler and reliable.

I just don't know anything about these old Dodge's, and it's got an aftermarket motor & radiator.
So who knows what else has been done to it yet.
Thoughts ?? Things to worry about ??

I don't see $22k there, but I'm not expert. There's one in my area for $22k with more miles, one owner. But there's also several for around $5k that you could make pretty badass for another $17k.

$22k seems kinda high, but it’s a beautiful Ramcharger.

1988 is not old.

The downside of the Ramcharger is the rear tailgate it is one piece and hinges at the top.

Cant haul lumber like a FSJ Cherokee with the tailgate down.

That one has the 318 nice but not a 360 or 440. 1988 was first year TBI. Check the Vin as it could be a 1987 Carbed but sold in 1988.

That said if you like it Buy it.

I have a soft spot for Ramchargers! Here’s a somewhat famous one.
That price seems high but they are sweet rigs. They break, but they are very fixable. Hal had an issue with the top hinge tailgate on the Grey Ghost here, and the tailgate is a big, heavy piece. But, he fixed it, and they’re sweet!


See if you can talk him down a bit; to a price you could get for it if you drove it for a few years and then sold it.

I had some old Mopar. 1963 Valiant, slant six, three on the tree. My uncle put 100k miles on it, sold it to me for $100. I put another 100k on it, sold it to my friend. His Dad put in a clutch and they drove it for another 100k. Finally, after 20 years of faithful service, the body just fell off, thanks to all the salt crap they put on the highways in the midwest. It wasn't fast and it wasn't sexy, but it always started and it ran all week on $5 worth of gas.

My father in law had a 88 , It used Holley Pro jection for efi . I wonder if parts are still available?
