F’that, took me 15years but I paid back every penny.
I did the instant gratification thing when I graduated, it was dumb but I don't really regret it. Now my wife and I make almost triple what I did then and have less payments.
If a college student doesn't understand what a LOAN is, then maybe they're not college material...
Though to be fair they certainly could be politician material.
CA owes around $50 billion to the government.

I did not sign up to pay off his student loans he signed his name he should have to pay
I had an employee of mine who was complaining that he still had $50 K in student debt 20 yrs after graduating. He just paid the minimum payments. He was making $100+K/yr and had no issues buying a new $60K pickup and making those payments. Bottom line it’s not how much you make it’s what you do with it afterward. Having spent 20+ yrs in the Medical Profession I only call a medical doctor Dr because I know what they had to go through to get it. I’m also a PhD. Post Hole Digger.

My Mother ate grass, weeds and tree bark when she was a child during the Nazi and Russian occupation of Poland. My sisters and I learned how to make simple meals from scratch and grow our one food. Most of todays generation can not even open a can of tuna let alone cook dried beans. I may not eat the grass but I damn well know how to kill, skin and cook the rabbit laying in it.

Much respect, my friend. Hard to put a "like" by a story about something as dark as that, but your family has my respect.
She had a brutal path to finally getting to America. She told some horrific stories of what she saw. I have a distinct dislike for Neo-Nazis. Her life started bad but she lived a good long life here. And yet many Americans complain how bad things are here.

And so many in this country want socialism Marxism and communism , and have no clue how horrible it really is.
I think they are all great but there are two big problems with each of them among many. They are run by humans and as we all know we are all corrupt to some extent and use power for our own good. Second why should I work hard and the guy next to me just sucks on the government teat. They will never work in this world. I want the government to protect me from outside threats and make a level playing field of opportunity for all. Too many people want the government to support their ass because they are lazy and make poor choices in their lives. They think the government can just give them money not knowing that the government has to get it from those that work hard to EARN it. Jeff Bezos worked 20 hr days for years before he made his billions. People don’t want to put their time in to reap rewards.
I don't see a distinction, they're all inappropriate uses of public funds. Sending our tax dollars overseas directly hurts tax paying Americans. Handing our tax dollars to able bodied American college graduates likewise hurts tax paying Americans, it punishes us for a wrong we did not commit, and breeds a heightened entitlement mentality within our borders.

Good fences makes good neighbors. There is benefit to supporting those outside our fence/wall that share our values but if you don’t, that’s what the wall is for. RE student debt, if you’re “smart enough” to go to college, you’re smart enough to know the consequences of your loan commitment. It took me 15 years to pay mine off, the only exception for forgiveness should be some type of national service (Military/Police/ParksService/PublicEducation,etc)

I agree there are some limited exceptions for student loans as you've described, but those exceptions are very limited and directly related to a benefit to us all whereas the legions of lazy fucks with gender studies & throngs of other useless degrees & 100k in debt that want that wiped clean because 'capitalism' or 'patriarchy' or 'boomers' or 'men' or pick any of their other 1000 complaints, not so much.
As for supporting those outside our borders, noble in theory, but we're not exactly in a position financially to do that anymore without yet more irreparable harm to ourselves. 33 trillion in debt & counting, I think it's time we let others solve their own problems.

First rule of charity and first aid is don’t become a victim yourself by trying to help. Agreed on the 3rd world countries that won’t be changed by $1 or $1B but like student debt forgiveness, I think there is a reasonable short list of places it makes sense to support either under the umbrella of mutual aid agreements or if we don’t help them stop “bad thing” there, it will come here next.
