I have a pump that I connect to my battery with alligator clips I would like to add a switch. Would it be better to put it on the positive or negative side of the wiring
I will be keeping the clips but want to be able to turn the pump on and off without having to remove the clips each time

I don’t think it really matters which side as the pump will turn off but is one side more preferable?

Depending on how big the load is you might need a pretty hefty switch, most are only good for up to about 15 amps. Any more than that you'd likely need a relay.

Don't forget to add a fuse on your postive wire close to the battery!

Lots of little fuse blocks you can add...and relay blocks...to keep multiple circuits organized.

I don't think I really need a relay block I am not trying to keep multiple circuits organized, just one 7.5 amp pump. Oh yea this is for my On Board Shower

If you're wiring this as a permanent install why not replace the clips with eyelets so you can mount them to the battery terminals while you're at it?

Best way to go is to have a secondary aux battery (house battery) for 'camping' accessories. Depending on your pump on time you could put yourself in a precarious situation.

Me I'd use ISO connectors like they have on battery chargers, maybe an Anderson connector, or most definitely a power port/cigarette lighter.

I added power pods to both back corners of my tub...power ports, USB outlets all wired up.

If I load up my fridge it just gets plugged in...all the circuits run back to battery via a 12g wire that's labeled and fused before landing on my deep cycle Optima Yellow Top.

Yea it only runs for a few minutes at a time and the engine is running the entire time the pump is running to generate the hot water so I don’t think I need it’s own battery

This is one of the things I'm most jealous of of my friends JKU honestly haha. The plugs in the back

Hey if that's all a JK has over my jeep...

I actually did really enjoy my JKU, until that CEL came on and nothing would fix it, so I couldn't pass my emissions test. There is a reason why I now have 3 TJ's and 0 JK's.
