And what REALLY sucks is all my Good SnapOn scanners only go up to 2002 so none of them will read the Hemi PCM so now I have to buy a newer/better scanner.

Is it one that has a little chipset plug in?

It's been years since I worked in a Jeep shop but they had a scanner and you had to change out a set of plug-in chip connectors for different models. Curious if maybe you can just get a newer set of plug-in chipsets?

Maybe dating myself on the snap-on scanners...

The MT2500 uses cartridges that you plug into the scanner. And then the newer one I is a SnapOn Solus and works on 2004 & older rigs and uses a Compact Flash card and I've searched but couldn't find anything.

I'll sell them both to member on here that want/need to set their fuel sync and just have a better than basic code reader. They both fit Domestic & Foreign rigs so if they own 2002 & older rigs they're great. I didn't even think about it when I was buying the Hemi. I've got to do some reading and see what the Hemi guys say is the GO TO scanner to use on them.

AS I said this I just did a search on Ebay and might have found a CF card from SnapOn that would take me up through 2009. Had to run out and look at the one I have and it's got a 2004 version and the one on Ebay is a 2009. So for $50 I'm going to give it a try and see if it has newer software in it. Might save me from having to buy a new a new scanner.


Edit: Funny, I find that CR card for the Solus & then I find cartridges for the MT2500 that would take it up to 2005 so It's work on my TJ with the Hemi. They're a little more spendy but compared to buying a new scanner they aren't. I'll try the Solus first and if it doesn't work I'll they these new cartridges.

Put 5 gallons of fuel in the tank and boom the fuel gauge miraculous works. don't I fill dumb right now.

Don't feel bad Rick. I thought mine was wrong to because of a previous fuel pump where it stopped working. So I thought to run up to the local gas station to fill it up and I got about a mile when I ran out of gas. I will say that was easier than dropping the tank and pulling the pump, just sayin

We all seem to make these blunders now & then & as long as they don't cost $$$$$ or cause serious damage it's just a learning experience & funny once it's all over with.


Chris @ Hotwire got back to me and said that the Check Gauges light is not PCM driven so I've got a gauge that isn't reading. Now because I wasn't letting it run very long I hadn't had time to really check things but I "think" my alternator isn't charging? But what I don't understand is that it's still showing battery voltage in the 10-11V range on the gauge. I didn't remember my gauges triggering the Check Gauges light until it got into the Red area. Something more to chec.

Picked up the parts I needed to mount the fuel pedal to the bracket.

I got some 3/8" -1/4" steel spacers.

The holes that were in the bracket didn't work for this pedal.

I used one of the slotted holes and then drilled a new lower hole.

It's mounted and it works but I'll say it it's great for me & my prosthetic foot.

I hooked up my battery charger to the battery and it's at around 25% so I'll charge it overnight and see if this cures the Check Gauges light.

Went out and checked the dash to see if the Check Gauges light was now off. NO JOY...... The battery is @ 80% charge so should have been OK.
So I did the cluster test again and here's what I came up with.

I have a buS b0 & a buS b8 plus a PanEL OPEn. So it looks like I've got some things to figure out. I know about the buS b8 issue that I've got some ides on.
The buS b0 code & the PanEL OPEn codes I have no idea so I guess I'm reaching out to Chris @ Hotwire again.

I might have mine mounted upside down. I thought I'd tried it the other direction and it didn't sit right but I'll go look at it again this morning and see.

When I first put mine in I had it upside down and the pedal would work but it was in a very uncomfortable position. I don't have any pictures of it mounted that way.

I don't like the way it's sitting right now either and it's not comfortable for me with my prosthetic to try and manipulate the pedal compared to other vehicles I've driven. So I'll go flip mine and see if that helps or not.

Just a guess but the PanEL OPEn codes might have something to do with you having the older style headlights/dimmer switch combined with the newer cluster looking for the stem mounted switches...

I just got done sending Chris an email telling him what I'd found. So I'll see what he has to say about my results and the codes I've got. I need to look at my wiring again and see if anything in my brain rattles around with a possible fix.

Per @Daubie3 post I flipped the bracket.

But with it mounted with the predrilled holes it was rubbing on the tub near full throttle.

So I drilled some new holes moving it up and a little away from the transmission tunnel.

Mounted back up and I have full travel now plus it sits in a little more comfortable position.

Since I don't have a ankle to flex my foot to accuate the pedal my whole foot moves as I use my thigh to accuate the pedal. Now I don't have huge feet but I'm a size 11 so I've got to fit my boot in there. For me this seems to be the better position.

Chris got back to me already about the gauge cluster diagnostic and he's not familiar with it. So said he's got to do some deep diving into the issue.

Gotta love it when you're the guy who has the unheard of problems.
