Getting a 2 inch lift

I’m not opposed when the money is right, looking for a bit more clearance is all right now. I kind of like the 1” of suspension and 1” of body combo.

Already running the 1” H&R springs and have the Rancho RS5000x 0-2”.
I think that will looks perfect. Honestly it’s the best setup for a DD, overlander, Oregon rig. I’m considering a 2” spring, 1.25” BL, and 3” raised high-lines. That’s 6.25” equivalent tire clearance over stock!

I am so up in the air on what I want to do on the suspension. I wanted a 2 inch to get the frame up higher so I hit less stuff coming off of somewhat bigger rocks, but with the 1.25 BL, that will put my overall getting into the Jeep 3.25 higher. I also want to daily drive my Jeep, I don't have too, but want to.

So question, will a 2 inch lift (done right) and the 1.25 BL make a huge difference on how it handles on the road? I mean I see lifted Jeeps all the time driving down the road, but how is the ride? Are they just "dealing" with it? I don't want to "deal" with a bad ride just so I can go over big rocks once a month or so. LOL

I have plenty of time to think about it, but was just curious how you guy's with the 2 inch lift and overall 3.25 inch height, like your ride?

Done right, your ride won’t be negatively affected at all. In fact due to the increase in shock up travel the lift will give you - you have the ability to actually improve the ride. I would do the 2x4 test to check height and see if you like it. One way I look at things is put jacks under the frame (at whatever lift you’re looking for) and let the suspension down. That’s a real visual of what it is going to be! I have 5.25 inch of lift - and my Jeep handles way better than stock to me. I take speed bumps without reducing speed at all and glide on over.

You’re at step 1 of cycling your suspension :) Look at that!! Take your jack stands and raise them as close to 2” (3.25” if you want to see how it look with the BL as well) as possible. Then take your jack, slide it under the axle, and lift up until you can put the jacket and under the frame right in front of the belly pan/behind the lower control arm. Then fo the same for the rear, behind the belly pan and in front of the rear lower control arm. To do it right you kinda need 4 jack stands so you can do the front and the back and make it level.

We are good there, we have several jack stands and several jacks too. LOL Hubby works for a tow yard and once cars clear to become theirs, he takes what he wants. So we have an over abundance of jacks and tools of all kinds. LOL Bad thing is though, you can never find the tool when you need it. :D
 
I ordered the MML's and BL. Could have sworn the BL said they were in stock, but when I got the confirmation email, it said backordered. Ugh. LOL

you need sliders!

Those are going to be in the works too. I will probably get those before the springs. I want hubby to weld me some square tubing to go right under that area. May have to have him add a step to my design. LOL

The BL will clear that rock nicely. Sliders are invaluable off-road :)

Yah, I was actually wanting that shortly after starting off on that trail. :D I added a bad drawing to show what I kind of want for a slider, to my above post. :D
 
One thing to remember - a frame mounted slider is more prone to damaging the tub by shoving up into it and bending. All depends on how hard you hit it. A tub mounted slider provides significantly more protection and will not lose you any precious ground clearance over rocks. If you add the body lift (1.25”) then add a slider below the tub (maybe 1-2”) then you’re back to square one and rubbing instead of clearing.
