I installed it in April and probably have 3k mines on it. I used to use them all the time years ago with very good results, but it looks like they moved production to china a few years ago so YMMV. I have had good results with this one so far though.
I've got the Durango version of that alternator on my TJR. It's even cheaper on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007Y85VLY?tag=wranglerorg-20. Been good so far but only have a few hundred miles on it so can't attest to longevity.
Is it actually necessary to upsize any of the cables when putting in the Durango alternator? Or do you just lose out on the benefits of a bigger alternator a bit?

Any larger alternator over the stock one should have the cables upgraded. Heck, the stock alternator will perform better with the Big 7 done. At least you'll need to replace the fusable link.
the Durango alternator has the ability to produce more amps if your system calls for it. the cabling does not limit the power draw, it can only hope to contain it. it depends on your draw, but if you feel the bigger alt is necessary, its probably best to at least up the size of your alternator cable and the fusible link, if not all of the main power cables
