Mildly Out of Hand 02 Sahara Build

Your setup looks really nice. I’m also running a stock style diff cover for now so maybe that’s why I have so much extra room. I also don’t want to remove any more from the corner from where it’s at now if possible. Thanks for the help

I could run my hand behind my diff cover and tank. The clearance "pinch-point" was the axle tube and full bump.

Got back from JV went with @D M and a group I've been wheeling with for 6 years now. Good times and lots of carnage. I broke my rear pinion yoke and a leaf spring on my trailer. Dylan broke a dana 30 shaft, another guy broke a jk sector shaft, an xj rear shaft, and some carnage from the go fast guys in our group. As dylan said in his thread it was still a good time. Can't wait for next year

Barely took any photos but heres a little photo dump

After literally years of searching for an atlas or TJ 241 I finally got my hands on a Rubi T-Case for a decent deal super local to me! Can't wait to experience it out in the rocks. I'm hoping I can run some 1310 yokes and reuse my driveshafts for now. I also need to read some old threads and figure out the speedo. It also came with a Novak Cable, so if anyone is on the look out for a Savvy 231 Shifter let me know. I am not sure if those are involved in the buyout ordeal.

I've been seeing a few more of these local to me as well. Still expensive, but they are coming up more often.

Does anyone have some current first hand experience running 1310 yokes front and more importantly on the rear of the 241 cases? I know that people say that the factory flange with the balancer helps with vibrations. I’ve already gone through multiple drive shaft iterations and would prefer to replace the flange with a 1310 yoke (saves me some money and I have spares that would be wasted too). I haven’t removed the flange yet and was wondering if you could fit a 1310 yoke over the balancer? My jeep has 4.88 gears now and I have no plans on going steeper.

It looks like Tom woods and others sell the correct yokes for the conversion but I’d prefer to see if anyone has done this before pulling the trigger.

I'd guess @mrblaine would be the SME on this?

I talked to a bunch of people including someone at Tom Woods' and it seems like the 1310 yokes shouldn't cause any vibes. Makes sense to me since people constantly get rid of the balancer on 231s. I also modified my savvy shifter cable to work with the 241. It shifts perfectly and I was able to get the dash light and speedo working with the GM magnet sensor and speedohealer.

Then I shortened my rear tube fenders to get rid of the fact that they hung past the body as well as the gap created by the tub radius.

Now I just need to wait for my new transmission mount to arrive before I put my skids back on and test it out.

Look forward to hearing what you think of the 4:1 compared to the 2.72:1...

Nice job on the flare.

I’m almost wrapped up with my 241 t case swap. It’s fully installed including speedohealer calibration, and new transmission mount. It shifts great and seems to work fine with the 1310 yokes. It does however rub the body slightly in one spot. I’m kicking myself for not hammering the tub more while the case was out or going with a 1.25” bl years ago. It makes some slight noise while driving due to the contact. I may look into notching the floors, but I’ll leave it for now because the thing needs to get smogged.

I also modified my skid because the drain plug area was a little close for comfort. Now it has about an inch of room everywhere from the case and skid.

(I also welded the bottom seams and ground it smooth)

The mandatory poser flex shot from testing. I can already tell the 4:1 is going to be a game changer in the rocks!

I've kicked myself more than once for not modifying my tub to fit my STaK's so I could shove it up higher... Live & learn as they say I guess.

Love the Jeep it's looking good.

And since you're a 8274 guy... Carl Jantz just designed a bearing for the end cap... $140

Looking good! Put something like a socket in the trouble spot and jack the transfer case up until it presses the sheet metal out of the way. No case removal or hammering required.

I saw something earlier today about his end cap bearing. I was tempted looks like a great way to remove the slack in the drum. If you get one you’ll have to let me know what you think

I'm going to talk to him about it more and see what I think... I like the idea of it. I'll let you know.
