I'm getting a quick insurance inspection done tomorrow, probably a waste of time and they probably won't do a thing but I'd like to at least see if they'd consider helping me? They told me I can just come in for them to look at it so why not

Do you have full coverage? If so, what’s your deductible? Remember, if you notify the insurance company and don’t get it fixed under liability only, then get full coverage, they won’t cover it unless something else happens.
I'd try buffing...That definitely looks like moisture damage...and I doubt it goes through the clear. Does it go away if you get it wet? That is a good sign its just in the clear. If that is the case, it should be relatively easy to take care of.
Didn't go away when wetting it it looks slightly less noticeable after cleaning it though

If you can make it go away by wetting it, to me sounds like it is in the clear coat. You can probably get away with wet sanding it or using something mild like some kind of gritty polish. The only real problem is if it is just in the clear and you can polish it out you are thinning the clear so it is susceptible to doing it again, but you may get away with it.
Here is what I would do if I were you,
I would wash it and see if water makes it disappear, what ever you still see will not be fixable as it is in your paint. If you can make it all disappear you are golden. Then while it is wet I would clay bar it as smooth as you can get it. Then wax it here is what I use for wax.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000AP8DZY/?tag=wranglerorg-20 this is mildly abrasive and actually if it was me I would wet sand it, but you could do damage if you don't do it right, so I would use the polish; it will take a lot to hurt it. Then after dried I would wax it again with this to protect it if it worked.

That should at the very least make it less noticeable. Don't do any off this till you talk to your insurance company first though, because if they do decide to repaint it and clear it that will give you the best protection in the end assuming they do it good and right.

x1000, before you go the bodyshop route, or take a sandpaper to your car, talk to a capable and experienced detailer. I had burn marks on my BMW from the time a pair of cheapo jumper cables caught fire and melted on my rear bumper. My detailer was able to buff out the burnt clear coat. It was a 90% improvement and didn't cost me a thing. I'd assume he would probably charge 50 or so if you just showed up off the street and asked him.
Moral of the story, try less severe options before going nuclear with insurance and bodyshops (or ruining good paint if you don't have much experience with painting)
Went to two body shops and they said it's supposedly under the clear coat, no defects of paint coming off but they were being honest and told me the same thing to try other things before paying a lot. Told me to come in Saturday morning to see if they can give me a price to sand and buff out the spots, got nothing to lose
