Can you put 03-06 windshield trim pieces into a 2000?

My friend has a 06 rubicon and it has additional trim around the sun visors that he installed switches in. Was curious if older tj can accept that same 3 trim pieces?

These are the trim pieces. One on each side of the window, and a center piece that extends across the top end to end.

The older frames don't have the standoffs for the screws to hold the trim on.

Plenty of ways around that. Long self tapers. Gluing in blocks of plastic to screw too. 3m tape.

I just removed my ash tray.

I'm not sure, but if you're looking for switch options, I did a panel similar to Mac's with an Auxbeam.

Who makes auxbeam compatible panels? I know i’ve seen em, just don't remember where. Looks clean, and was planning on one of them anyways

I did it to add a gauge pod and hide my compass/temp mirror wires.you just have to hold the parts up and dremal out the rectangle holes for the clips,no big deal.oh and get the newer sun visors also.

I don’t know why several responders are referring to the wrong pieces. The OP is asking about the 3 pieces that mount to the windshield frame (plus the visors).

We did it. So yes, it can be done. The center piece is the only one that’s a bit weird, but a few self tapping screws solved that. A more elegant solution would be to drill out and dremel or die grind slits on the frame to receive the center piece clips.

I've wondered about the trim myself. But then decided I'd rather spend that money on other parts.

Wait - so you can put the later year interior window trim on say, a 97? They make an a-pillar gauge pod thing but it only fits on the later years, but I believe that's really just because the trim is not there on the earlier years.

We did it. Drill new self tappers in the A Pillar trim and you can do the same on the upper trim panel or actually drill and use die grinder to make them into slots for the factory clips on the trim. Make sure and get the visors installed for placement of the center trim piece so they will clip into the trim. It’s pretty specific.

My bad. I assumed the visors were the same, but now I remember I only ever had ‘03-06 visors, so I learned something new.

I actually found pictures of us painting the windshield frame, but found no pictures of the trim install. It was on my son’s rig and he sold it last summer. Getting the three trim panels in place is not difficult. Then just use self-tappers. Make sure and mount the visors where they will clip into the trim piece correctly. Once you are there doing it it is straightforward.
