My daughter's TJ was t-boned on her way home from school Tuesday night. The other driver was at fault. He pulled out of a parking lot directly into her. Luckily since he was just starting to accelerate from a stop he wasn't going very fast. The door took the majority of the hit. The tub is bent in a little under the door. Trim piece under the door, step, and rear flare are all busted.

Really hope the at fault guy's insurance company (State Farm) will not try to total it.

Any leads on a left (driver's side) door, rear flare, or rocker trim in PJN (Moss Green Pearl) will be very much appreciated. Also if anyone has a step they removed laying around or sees one for sale please let me know

Dang it man.......

Try to get them to repair it. If they won't, buy it back and fix it.

I worked on it some yesterday. State Farm is dragging their feet and we were tired of it looking so rough.

I got the tub under the door about 80% back strait. I put the trim back on, but it's cracked and only held on by one screw. Also hit the scuff marks with Magic Eraser. Looks much better.

State Farm finally called me about my claim last Thursday accepting fault. This morning was my appointment with the body shop for the estimate. I brought it by and they had it for about 30 minutes then sent me home with it saying they would call me later today with their findings. Body shop just called and said everything was ready to move forward with getting it fixed. He said he would have the parts by the 16th and I could bring it in then.

I asked if he had everything approved on the State Farm side and he said their shop is a State Farm partner so the work is pre-approved and they just send State Farm the bill when done. Does that seem right to people who have used a State Farm partner shop before? I do not trust insurance companies one bit.

Seems legit to me.

Are any parts needed? It looks like all of that can be fairly easily repaired unless I'm missing something.

Yes, that's how they work. Have a vehicle in a State Farm preferred shop right now. They had the car before State Farm even received an estimate.

Zack,

Wife (who worked in the insurance industry) said if you have any doubts call the state farm adjuster and make sure the estimate has been approved.

I've had State Farm for decades and they've always done right by me. Last time, guy rearended my wife's van and wiped out the wheelchair rack on the back, shoved her power wheelchair into the rear hatch and pushed that into back of the van. Guy didn't have a license, insurance and it was his girl friend's SUV. At least he stuck around until the cops got there and figured out there were some warrants out for him too.
State farm, fixed the damage and replaced the wheelchair and the rack. No cost to us. I've got no complaints about State Farm.

They have an app for that. The claim should show in the app, you can select the repair shop there too. Follow the process there.

We always called them (snake farm)in the auto glass/body business 😂

The time in between my bringing it by and them calling me was used to track down parts and costs for parts. It's not a big repair, the door is the worst part. The damage under the door should be pretty easy for a good body guy to fix.

Paint and labor is really what worried me. Those add up fast. I'm not sure what a '98 Sahara is worth on KBB, but I bet it would be easy to get close to that with the repairs needed.

I hear you. I'm thinking a good paintless dent removal guy could easily massage most of that out, then it just takes some light filler, prep, and paint.

But you're right, the price can add up fast. Fortunately that isn't enough to total it. I'd say for being t-boned you did pretty well!

I have been following the claim progress on the State Farm website. I'm one of those old fashioned guys that use real computers still;)

I love my desktop computer so much more than my phone. I know @Zorba agrees with me.

I don't see how anyone could possibly prefer the tiny screen of a phone over my big desktop computer screen. I'll always have a special place in my heart for desktop computers.

Since the guy was just starting out he was only going maybe 10MPH at the most. Plus he had one of those modern SUVs with the plastic and foam bumper thankfully.

My daughter, who was driving the TJ, said the guy that hit her was blind in one eye and walked with a cane...
