Egypt Fiasco

A couple or three images from inside the Isis temple. The energy in this place was very interesting, and we raised a bit more while we were in there! We also were allowed up on the roof, which is normally closed to tourists. Nothing particularly remarkable other than going through a 3,000 year old staircase in the inside of the wall. A few of the dancers did a bit. Karnak tomorrow, I swapped in the camera lenses I want to use tomorrow, debating if I want to take one camera (and which one) with 2 lenses, or if I should just take 2 cameras so I'm not swapping lenses in the Egyptian dust...

That’s cool keep the pics coming.

King Tut's revenge is working its way through the group. Several didn't make it to the Isis temple last nite, and one of the leaders spent most of the nite worshiping the wrong Goddess, so we're not sure if she's going to make it today or not. The other leader is apparently OK, not sure what's going to happen with the ritual dance we had planned. When we were stuck in Cairo, the group was making offerings to Sobek (Kind of a somewhat disreputable crocodile God) - which was a joking suggestion of mine at the time. Maybe we need to do more of it.

Speaking of crocodiles, a camel jockey at the pyramids taught me a new one. He knew "later alligator", and "after awhile, crocodile", but I'd never heard "See ya soon, big baboon!"

I don't have time to type much, or upload pix a I'm getting ready to "go on" for a performance. Will be leaving at OMFG-thirty tomorrow AM to move on to our next destination, so I'll be offline for a bit. In fact, I'm not sure where we're going will even have Internet!

In any event, we went to Hathor's (hat-hor - no "TH" sound) temple complex in Dendera today. Took a kazilion pix, and this place is better than everything else we've seen COMBINED. Sacred Ground (tm) even after all these centuries, the energy there was indescribable. Felt connections to deities I've barely even thought about before!

I have MOST definitely been there before...

Lots of Peugeot 504s here, I got a couple of pix.

Got here, has Internet. "Here" is Siwa Oasis. Really cool place - maybe a bolt hole of last resort? Hotel is a "Grand Old Dame", that I think was built in the 1920s, not sure if its that old or not as there were no roads here until 1982 - you took 4WD or a camel. Hotel is "interesting" - the parts of the room that need to be clean are, but things like the shelves in the wardrobe haven't been cleaned since Cleopatra's reign. The WiFi is flaky as hell, I had to fix and reboot the WAP for this floor - which looks like it was surplussed out right after the Great Pyramid was completed! Loose wires and dirt everywhere on the thing.

Went looking for a locally made skirt - what I ended up with is a project. Basically a wrap skirt that I'm going to have to put a closure on, and maybe a elastic casing as well so it wont shimmy off of me.

It's funny how the things we would view as normal , don't exist in the rest of the world . Hopefully you and Carla are somewhat healthy again . Have Fun at the Oasis !

There's a LOT of "normalcy" that isn't here, and I don't miss it in the slightest.

Then there's things like this, completely wild and free roaming:

Thought you weren’t supposed to take pics of people’s girlfriends over there?

I did it just for you!

It is nice to see that the smartphone hasn't completely ruined this culture YET. There certainly are too many of the damn things here, but nowhere near as many as in the US. Kids don't have them. Many adults don't either. But the pussification is underway - the car we're being driven around in is some kind of Mitsubishi, with the screen and most of the rest of the US spec crap - including something new that I can hate: Power tailgate. What a fucking nuisance - its not as bad as a power seat, but annoying enough! All kinds of silly LED lighting effects inside.

Then you open the door at nite, and see this:

The above picture, and several more similar to it, were taken during a "desert safari" wheeling experience. Toyota vehicles, ours was the white one to the rear in this picture. Guy aired down to 15 lbs.

I have a bit of video too - but Google doesn't like that I'm overseas on a VPN, so it'll have to wait until I get home...

We had stopped in the desert as seen a couple of posts above this one, the Arab to the left was our driver, "Achmed", the one to the right was the driver of the other vehicle. I took this picture while in my costume... ;)

"Super Soda", an Egyptian brand. Note sanitary plastic top - and many cans had old 1970s style pull tabs. This cola was damn close to Coke - to the point of where I'd like to do a side-by-side comparison!
