Washington Washington members that live to wheel

Cannon is a very cool little burg, I've been a few times. Haystack Rock is something to see.

Yea we really like it. One of my favorite experiences is being there when low tide is early morning and going for a walk around Haystack Rock with a hot cup of coffee and checking out the tide pools and watching the puffins. It's hard to beat a cool morning beach walk with a cup of coffee!

We prefer Manzanita. Not crowded like Cannon Beach.

We always stay in Tolovana Park and walk the beach to the rock. Then we only have to go into town when we want to. Now we'll start staying in a campground or off-grid somewhere not far.

We'd like to camp on the beach somewhere this year. We can drive on the beach in Washington but not camp.

We have a place in Manzanita we use in the summer. One of the best places on the oregon coast for sure. I think the only place you can beach camp overnight would be at Sand Lake. Last couple of years we attended the Jolly Jeepers rally
on the TSF. They put on a good event and have a good selection of runs to choose from Unfortunately for me my Tj stays in arizona so we wheel our JK and I'm not ready to run Crushers in it

Things might have changed but they used to allow you to camp on the beach @ Florence. Lost of people camped on the beach when quading.

First one is the Peter Iredale in warrenton after a morning of Razor Clamming. The second is down in Pacifc city. One day I'll drag the TJ up there

I've spent enough time in sandboxes "camping" that I'm good for a long while. We're an hour from Florence if we want to play in the dunes.

Still have sand inside my duffle bag...

Getting your RV stuck on the beach is $$$$$$

Yea, I'll have to be very cautious with a heavy diesel 1-ton with a camper! No soft sand driving for me, hard packed only! I think I'll actually end up adding a set of traction boards to the ladder or roof for emergencies. The beach/sand is about the only place I've ever seen them actually be useful. I also spend A LOT of time driving on the beach.

I just looked and realized that Manzanita is by Neahkahnie Mountain where we've hiked before. We actually were talking about doing that hike again next time we go down and taking our son. That peak where you can watch the river mouth and see down the coast line is gorgeous! A great place to sit and enjoy some lunch.

Try 19K lbs of RV.... While I want to try camping on the beach I'm scared shitless of it getting buried.

I think I'll be around 11500-12000 loaded with the camper, fuel, water, and family. I need to get the truck down to the batch plant one evening or weekend while they're closed and get on the scale. But I also want to get the TJ down there and weigh it.

While being on the beach a lot for work, I see plenty of guys in RV's, truck campers, and with TT's (for day shelter) and rarely see them have an issue. Obviously the key is staying off the soft stuff, but sometimes those soft patches sneak up on you. For our beaches here in the Harbor, I think if the approach isn't soft and torn up I'll be fine. But I probably won't cruise long distances on the beach, just find a spot and park. I think the traction boards would also be good for just parking on the beach to keep the heavy rear end from sinking down while you're enjoying your day/night and allow you to get rolling without spinning.

Yeah I put a 12k winch on the front of my F250 after burying it in the mud by lake in the middle of the woods towing my 28' camper.

I spent two days jacking up the truck and essentially building a cobblestone road back to the main trail. I don't want to think about how many tons of rock I hauled.

When I win the LOTTO I'd like a nice winch bumper & 20K ComeUp winch on the front of the motorhome... Plus some traction boards... But then I'd also like a lift & larger tires on it too. But all that is gunna wait. Need MONEY first.

I mean, if you win the lottery just buy an EarthRoamer! I like your humble approach though, staying true to yourself!

Seriously though, EarthRoamers are sick, but could you imagine paying nearly (or over in some cases) $1,000,000 for an RV!?

Actually I'd build a new RNTH with a F450 or Ram 4500 tow rig....But that's a whole other story. But yes I do like Earthroamers but I couldn't spend that kind of money.

We strongly considered going that route, but ultimately decided we would prefer the route we're going (at this point in our lives) so that we can use the camper without a 40' trailer. If we were always going to take the Jeep and toys, then we probably would have. I mean, I spent some time pricing out trailers for exactly that.

For you, with grown kids, if you're traveling you're probably taking the Jeep so I can't blame you.
