Man sports, not for "men" who like playing with balls.

Well they could toss on a pair of shorts or require some padding up front. Seems odd they don't since it's an easy fix. I get that it's hard and requires strength and skill. In school all the wrestlers were always miserable trying to lose weight either by starvation or sweating down.

Girls wrestling is taking off here.

Not an area you're really reaching for or aiming at. I only wrestled for 5 years but never really took any shots to the groin. You'd probably just be adjusting the damn thing the whole time.

Making weight definitely wasn't fun.

Shorts and rashguard are an option now but no one wants to use them. Wrestlers adopted the singlets as our uniform and we’re fine with it. I guess that’s part of the game is you put yourself all alone in front of the crowd, practically exposed then go wrestle.

It's just part of the sport. Kickboxers love the thai style short shorts that leave some of us in danger of a dangler. :sneaky:

@Chris so what are a few of your combos you like to run on the heavy bag?

One of my favorites is jab, cross/overhand while rolling and stepping to the lead side, hook to the body, hook to the head, rear leg across the body.

I fight orthodox and southpaw, so I'll use that last hit or kick to switch stance, then repeat the drill if that's what I'm doing.

I've been teaching myself to be ambidextrous so switching between southpaw and orthodox is something I've been practicing.

Lately I've been focusing a lot on simply footwork and jabs. I'll do a few jabs, bob and weave, then a few more jabs. I do that extensively while moving around the bag in a circle keeping the majority of weight on my back foot.

I've been doing this since I'm a big believer that all it takes in most situations is a single jab to the face and 99% of folks are going down. I remember my boxing coach back in the day used to hammer that into me. All it takes is one jab square in the face.

I do more than that though, I'll come up with drills of my own. My left hand is 1 and my right hand is 2. I'll give myself a combo like 1, 1, 1, 2, 1 and then work on that for a few minutes, then switch it up. I've been trying to mix a lot of body blows in there as well. Another focus of mine is always having one hand guarding my face very intently. When one hand is thrown, the other hand immediately snaps back and guards the face.

That's how Mayweather was able to avoid getting too beat up, he was always guarding himself. I wish more boxers would do that. So many of them just want to throw haymakers and leave themselves wide open.

I'm a firm believer that you win the fight you avoid, but if forced, I'm more of a believer in hard body shots. Unless you have played the sports and trained for it, 99% of people have no idea how to handle a body shot, and if you pop that liver with a hook, well, I've seen pro fighters taken out with a single liver shot.

Also, elbows to the dome and knees to the sternum seem to help people think about life choices. :sneaky:

Here's a guy doing pretty much the drill I typed out above just in case you want to try it. He needs to get down lower for the body shot, and he should be using a cross as a distraction to get there. He's a little out of mine. I go 1, 2, 3body, 3, kick

I don't think a back fist is legal in boxing, but here's that. I haven't done the spinning stuff lately. I think I'll slide some in this evening.
