All things trading and investing thread (stocks, metals, crypto, real estate, etc)

AI agents are using bitcoin with full independence: they created their own wallets, have their own encryption keys, and are making their transactions with 0 human input or direction.

Well, I guess I did get the gist of it. So, what is the point of "agent-to-agent" transactions, and what significant issues could that pose, or is there more to it? Is market manipulation being the main threat implied?

It isn't just agent-to-agent transactions. They can buy and sell all kinds of stuff now, and they figured it out on their own. They're using bitcoin as "real" banks only open accounts for real people. They figured out how to open account and how to get money.

It's like a kid growing up and getting a job and independently spending money. The parent isn't in control anymore.

Yeah but Chase sucks.

They all do to some degree, unless you can find a small local community bank or credit union. I’ve had Chase since I was a kid and a who knows how many mergers ago. Not with changing for my checking/savings or taking the credit hit on my all my old good standing accounts.

Skipping all of the "what-if" stuff, what's the point, what is the foundational concern? The only thing real I can think of is market manipulation. A computer and/or software program has no real use of financial means/leverage beyond that.

I posted it less as a concern and more of a "this new thing is happening." I think it will be significant, with good and bad things happening. It'll be a new part of the real economy.

Bots will do things for money: work, invest, steal.
They will use that money: purchase assets and services. From both agents and people.

All kinds of things will come from this. Many that we can't even imagine yet. Just looking at BTC, more desire for it = higher value. This supports the "bitcoin to the moon" thesis.

I think an "AI civil rights" movement is just around the corner. Agents can't do physical protests, but they can hire protestors. Many will fight on their behalf for free.

That is a real concern. There are people in this world/country who are stupid enough to think a software program is "real" and deserves the same rights, privileges and protections as people.

I'm with you on that, good and bad.
