Car pics too cool not to share

True test is whether the mods diminish the ability of the vehicle to transport effectively, legit car people don't do that. Cars are about mobility, that's why we love them.

Hmmmmmm...maybe. Maybe not.

I stand by my statement. I don't really understand modifying something for visual appeal (or any reason, really) to the point of ruining its usefulness as designed. If it can't clear something of speed bump height*, I feel like its usefulness as a road-going vehicle for mobility is diminished.

Gypsy Rose is art. You know it for its paint, controversial as it may be, and it's by far the most remarkable thing about it.

* And since you raised it, speed bumps are up near the top of my list of dumbest feckin' human inventions ever. This feels like the same mentality that lead to mandating vehicle front end designs for human impact. Here endeth the mini-rant.

Are you saying my lightweight racing seats diminish my vehicle?

You're a special case, so I'd say if that's a racing seat where you live, have at it... :ROFLMAO:

I get what you're saying, but can only agree to a point. And I have no issue with your stance on the matter, as it doesn't have any effect on my viewpoint. I absolutely love a slammed car, but have no use for an excessively lifted truck. I can appreciate a car that is capable of doing 160+ mph, but prefer my pickup with a top-end of 75 mph (with a tail wind). We see things as we see things. T'sall good. ;)

As for speed bumps, I shit you not, we have signs here that refer to them as "Traffic Calming Devices". It's just so Zen... :sneaky:

Gypsy Rose was rather famously in the opening credits of the show "Chico and the Man", so my mind sometimes goes there when I see an image of her. :)

I had long since forgotten that. Who can ID the electric heater being placed in the back of the truck in the opening credits of "Sanford and Son?"

As do I. But for me it still needs to be functional.

As somewhat of a case in point, when it came time to replace the struts on my Bimmer MINI, I went with adjustable coil overs instead of OEM struts. I lowered the car by at least an inch with the adjustments (also firming up the ride by default), and while it does look better, this was done primarily for better handling (which it gave in flippin' spades!) in the face of replacing worn-out original parts...but it still had to clear typical obstacles, otherwise I had ruined its usefulness.

Same here. Tess is stock ride height and shall remain that way, very functional as built and I think looks pretty good as well (though I do prefer her on 31" weenies). I am 6' 5", unless it's a feckin' Euclid, I shouldn't need a damn ladder to mount the thing. :)

I have no issues with this statement. At all. In any way. Even better if it corners quickly. :sneaky:

I might like a bit more on tap for reasons of safety, but I don't recall feeling the need to go any faster than that in any of the half dozen pickups I've owned. Particularly if I'm hauling shit, which is kind of the point of owning a pickup.

T'sall good. ;)

Indeed. :D

Yes...I am aware, unfortunately. In fact, I believe we have a bit of that "traffic calming" in the Peoples Republic of Maryland as well. :cautious:

That is precisely how I came to know of it and what springs to mind every time I've seen it since. (y)

Is this a photo you just grabbed from the internet, or do you know where this is?

I ask as I noted something disturbing about it, beyond the obvious. The original "solution" to whatever the traffic problem was here appears to have incorporated a series of speed bumps (now removed), and likely not far enough apart for most cars to navigate without jarring teeth. I hope whoever came up with this was beaten severely for their blatant ignorance. :cautious:

It's an internet grab. I can't understand why they would do that. Maybe each was its original location, and they kept moving it until they thought they got it right? That, or...
