Petition to ban hunting in Oregon

One of the problems is no one ever asks why is hunting allowed (People really need to be more curious and eager to learn new things). I imagine they all just assume people with guns push for it to have something to shoot and they see people posting pictures where it looks like they are enjoying killing animals and they throw out any possible connection to conservation. Its a shame people who refuse to educate themselves can get things like this elevated to the point of getting it banned.

I saw this same thing being pushed in the 80s-90s. Also, these same groups are attempting to ban fishing, and are now using the “lead weight” scare to advance their cause.

Yep, that happened here, and sometime around da 'vid they were attacking lead in ammo on public lands claiming it was giving people and animals lead poisoning. Biggest bunch of BS.

When people can't or won't think for themselves, these types initiatives and proposals will become more commonplace. The people that are for this kind of control have been convinced it's necessary. On the other hand, there are some that do it for punitive effect. Never the less, we have a real problem in this victimhood, Karen infested nanny nation where minds are being corrupted from a long list of influences and the outcome is effecting our very way of life.

One thing that is lost in todays society is, if you don't like something that others do, like hunting and fishing in this case, you should stand up for their right and desire to do so. It would be nice to get back to some semblance of normal and be left alone to do the things I love to do without having to fight the lunatics trying to take it all away.

If your great, great, etc. grandparents didn't hunt, you wouldn't be here.
So many folks are un-involved with their food source . . . no garden, no hunt, everything from a package.
Electricity comes from the wall socket, petroleum from the gas pump, government seeping into every aspect of your life, and they're ok with that. What a f'kd up bunch we've become . . . .

I agree and have felt this way for about as long as I can remember. It seems everything I like doing is on someone's list of things that are bad and need to be banned:

target shooting
hunting
fishing
off-roading
driving old muscle cars

Taking wildlife management authority away from the professionals at the state agencies and putting it on a ballot initiative where any idiot with a valid voter registration can over ride the WMA professionals is just stupid.

When did we start talking about the wolves in CO? Oh, different subject, nvm

I live in Oregon, and the loudest, most vocal folks here are insane. No hunting, no guns, second chances for most criminals because they are victims too, free healthcare for all, boys in girls spaces, tax the crap out of you, and on and on. It's beautiful here (the outdoors, not the cities), but I've had my fill of the folks who have lost touch with reality.

We can add plastic bags when you check out at a store that were banned a few years back. Previously we changed from paper bags to plastic because we needed to save a tree.

The insanity runs deep in the three big cities of Portland, Salem and Eugene. Portland takes the crown with the bumper stickers around there quoting "Keep Portland Weird". The homeless camps in the metro areas are a sign of Portland's decline and every time you travel through the city you see massive piles of trash from homeless camps.
Unfortunately people from all corners of the state have to live under the heavy hand of the people that make policy.

Oregon is not alone in this stupidity. Washington, California and quite a few other states are inflicted with the same disease.

My stepdad is buried in Heppner, Oregon. He's gotta be turning over in his grave, by now. I think it might be time to relocate him to Idaho, a place he always admired for its freedoms and common sense. 🇺🇸

Heppner is one of my favorite places to hunt in eastern Oregon. We hunted there in the 70's and 80's before it all went to controlled hunt and walk in only travel management BS. Tons of great memories and big mule deer bucks!

Artificial insemination is crucial to the dairy industry. The only group that doesn't use it are Amish. They would will be shunned and outcast from the sect.

That's insanely stupid. We raised purebred bulls on my parents farm and the only way you could economically get new bloodlines was through artificial insemination.
