That's actually very easy. They didn't. Originally they all came with greasable bolts that had a hole that lined up with a hole in the ball and greased the race at the ball exactly where it needed to be greased. Then along came all the knock-offs and if you learn one thing about the buying public, know that they will buy any piece of shit knock off of the original if it is 10 cents cheaper as long as it looks close enough to "match" the original. And like many on this forum, they will buy it just because it is a copy.
That meant John was now priced too high to compete with all the inferior bullshit copies that didn't use greasable bolts. So he had to take the 8 dollar apiece bolts out of the kits to just be competitive with the shit products and with the bolt missing, they will not sell without a grease fitting, so here we are. A useless grease fitting driven by shit copiers, that diminish an otherwise great product.
