Thoughts on this purchase (again)

For a listing with 19 photos, and none of them frame shots.......ehhhhhhhh.

They tell you the frame is coated and seems solid (to them). Listing description....

2006 Jeep Wrangler LJ Unlimited. Comes with hard top, soft top, and Bimini top. After market bumpers, but also have the original that go with it. 10K Smitty built winch with wireless remote. Also, wireless phone charger, interior bed rug, and neoprene seat covers. Has poison spider rock sliders. Also comes with Rubicon rock sliders. Has rough country off road lights, fuel rims 33” BFG all terrain tires with 4:10 gears. Pictures show dirt and blemishes but there are none. Just reflections. We live on gravel so the underside is dirty. No rust! The jeep was undercoated before we bought it. The frame was coated. It has gathered road dust and Black Hills mud from the trails. It comes with the tow bar. To me the frame is solid. Reaching in holes seems clean. We towed it behind a pickup camper to the hills. It tows great. Everything works great and is ready for some fun!

I have my suspicions, but frame photos would help a lot.

As Obi-wan said, seems odd that they know enough to mention the frame being coated - and defend that 'it's just mud and dust' - but never provide pictures of the frame. They could also just be a poor communicator; it is a Facebook add, after all. If it's relatively close and within your budget, can't hurt to go take a look.

"The frame was coated" and "to me the frame is solid" screams crust bucket with some paint lipsticking the pig. But, as has been said, if nothing's stopping you from checking it out, worst case scenario is you figure out that you and the seller have wildly different definitions of "solid."

If you're looking for a manual LJ with no rust, I wish you luck in your quest. Took me over 2.5 years to find that combo in my price range.

Saw a video yesterday about buying TJs. The takeaway is the more rocker switches, the more careful you have to be that those mods were not poorly installed by the PO Good luck!

Wouldn't touch it. I can tell that thing has had a hard life. Not to mention it's wildly overpriced IMHO.

There's so much garbage on Facebook it's almost laughable.

Sounds like a couple of pretty big concessions on your end to 'make it work'; auto, looks of an LJ. If it were across town, I'd take a ride, 6 hours, based on what you just said, pass without a second thought.

• Poison spider rockers, Fuel wheels, and Bartact seat covers are nice.
• Lights, lightbar and bumpers are Q-tech catalog/Amazon specials and don't add any value.
• Rear taillight guards are more catalog garbage that will cause more damage than prevent if actually put to use.
• All those switches and associated wiring; who knows how well it was done.
• 4:10 gears but it's not a Rubicon; either he doesn't know or it's been swapped and who knows how that was done.

Seems like someone who either bought it this way or slapped a bunch of stuff in. Either way, too many questionables and unknowns for a 6 hour trip for an automatic LJ - something it doesn't sound like you want anyway.

Smart decision I’d say. There’s far cheaper TJs in far better shape if you’re willing to travel.

Man, Its amazing the price gap state to state. Keep seeing LJ's in Colorado listed 15k-25k all day. Most in the 15k range are trash, seen clean ones asking in the 30s
