Fuel Pump Suggestions

I installed the Motobilt Fuel Cell in the bed of my ‘05 LJ. Everything went smoothly (I’ll post the details in my build thread soon).

However, I would have never guessed how loud the fuel pump whines. The brand is Detroit Axle, it’s brand new.

Does anyone know of a brand that is relatively quiet?

Have you put a few hours on the pump? I replaced mine with a Bosch unit and remember it being a bit noisy for the 1st couple of times I drove the Jeep. I don't know anything about the Detroit axle pumps. I used the Bosch 67756 in my 06 LJ and after the first few runs it has been silent and reliable.

Normally there are at least 2 layers of steel plus carpet between you and the pump , I'm not surprised it's louder than expected , it's inside your Jeep now .

How did you mount it? Using some vibration isolation mounts might help. Big on the might.

The fuel cell comes with a mounting bracket/ring. It’s as tight or tighter as the OEM fuel tank would be.

Right but the OEM tank is under the tub and the harmonics are certainly less noticeable.

Noise ultimately is vibration. A couple of cheap Amazon rubber isolation mounts might help.

Not sure about noise, but I just bought the Bosch 67756 from Rockauto. It was $250 shipped.

The Detroit Axle was $115 and I just bought a Delphi yesterday for $165 shipped. If that doesn't work, I guess I'll try Bosch next. Maybe the stuff I am buying is too cheap?

Delphi is what I'm running and have recommended to others. Except for one instance of installer error, out of 4 Delphi pumps (mine and 3 others in jeeps belonging to people I know) they've been flawless and trouble-free.

For what it's worth , I replaced the fuel pump in our 99 4.0 TJ in 2010 with an Airtex fuel pump from Advance Auto. It's worked just fine for 15 years .

My fuel pump is completely silent. (because it's outside and under the Jeep)

I do. This isn't a Facebook group, usually more helpful and knowledgeable answers here, if folks can't help the guy why answer?

Walbro is an option that comes recommended for performance applications. Not sure how quiet they are. Bosch and Delphi are certainly worth looking at.
